Worst music store in Montreal. The owner is very rude to customers and quite unhelpful. I went there today, the owner was being rude to this elderly lady who was buying a guitar, he was being very condescending and making fun of her. When I asked if they were able to solder the wires in a shure SM58, easy job, he answered “we don’t fix mics here!” So I said “but…uh”, trying to get a word in, and he answered “I don’t know what to tell you! We just don’t fix mics here okay!!!”. I was originally going to buy other items, but decided to leave and never come back. Now I understand why this is not a very popular store and should be avoided.
Terrible customer service. Walked in as the only person in the middle of a week day (Thursday), asked for strings and to show how put them on (American Telecaster with strange peg set up I was unfamiliar with). The guy (younger) told me he would set them up by himself or to get out and do it myself at home (word for word). In a world with Long and McQuade and a zillion other guitar stores, try being helpful to those that want it with guitars. This place is a BIG NO, if your like me and new to Montreal avoid it like the plague. Would give it a -1/5 if that was an option.

I’ve given them many second and third chances to make up for their ridiculous treatment of people, yet they continue to treat people like a holy bother to their bitter existence. Wanted to order a Gibson Les Paul Voodoo, but unfortunately they were unable to order it at all. Granted it’s a limited edition.
That said- their service was absolutely remarkable. I got to use their jam space to try out a few of their guitars in the past and was given the time I wanted without them peering down my neck.
Very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming.
Would definitely go back there in the future. If I could have gotten the Voodoo there I would have. Except for that small detail, they have my loyalty.
La pire tentative d’achat de ma vie. Le vendeur donne l’impression de ne pas vouloir vendre ses produits de milieu de gamme, je cite ‘moi je me fous de votre pognion, il ne viens pas directement dans mes poches’, et pretexte a son colegue vendeur que nous sommes defonces, tous ca en anglais en pensent que nous ne comprendrions pas. Je pense que se vendeur est donc un incapable, je pense de plus qu’il n’y connais rien en synthese, qu il est de tres mauvais conseil, j invite le patron a prendre des mesures en consequences.
Je m’engage a enlever cette note si le patron daigne me recontacter pour parler de cet incident.

Nice store with helpful staff. They carry mostly Jackson and Schecter guitars, and their used guitars collection always has something that can pique your interest. Prices are good as well. Definitely worth visiting from time to time.

While searching for a custom shop musicman electric guitar, I found out that this store was the only one in Canada with the exact one I wanted (colour, finish, etc.). Since I live in Toronto, I hesitated purchasing a high end guitar from a shop in Montreal. But the owner Steve helped me every step: answered all my questions very promptly, even sent me photos of the guitar he took, and held the guitar for me for a small amount of deposit until I found time to travel to Montreal. He assured me that, if I didn’t like the guitar after trying it, he would even allow me to use the deposit for purchasing something else. He also even offered me a discount and it helped me with the cost of travel to and from Montreal. I just returned to Toronto and playing this lovely instrument. Some asked my why I didn’t have it shipped to Toronto, but then I wouldn’t have had the chance to visit this great store, where I was treated so nicely with all staff and also enjoy seeing so many great guitars! I would now trust this store and order stuff online from them with no worries.

I went in to repair my old guitar and everything was going fine and staff was really friendly until a more aged person (i think the store owner) came in and impolitely cuts my discussion with one of the employees there to telling me “I’ll have to pay for a full setup” even though i only want to repair 2 frets. I told him that I only have problems with 2 frets, then he said “why don’t you do it yourself then”

Bonjour, je suis un jeune musicien et j’aimerais donner mon avis sur l’endroit. J’y suis allé à 2 reprises. La première fois j’ai trouvé que le vendeur ne souriait pas et n’était pas courtois. Je ne me sentais vraiment pas accueilli dans le magasin. La seconde fois j’y suis allé, c’était pour faire une maintenance sur ma guitare acoustique. J’ai consulté leur site pour voir si le service était disponible et il n’y avait pas d’avis contraire. Arrivé sur les lieux c’était le même homme qui servait à la caisse, il ne me dit même pas bonjour, je lui explique la raison de ma venue. Il me dit on peut ne rien faire pour vous le luthier est en vacance d’un ton sec. Je ne peux pas croire qu’il n’y ait pas 2 luthiers dans un magasin… ou au moins un remplaçant. Honnêtement, je ne retournerais pas là-bas et je déconseille les jeunes musiciens d’y aller.
Listened to the owners saying some of the most racist and islamophobic things I have ever heard said in my life about Black people and Muslims – and in front of their children. I told them I couldn’t believe I was hearing what they were saying, they told me to “go read a Bible.” Unbelievable and very scary. Do not give them your business.
After struggling with my Strat for 4 years it took them 20 secs to see the issues and tell me it will be covered under warranty. I wish I had gone to them 4 years ago.

Good service. Gives his honest opinion. But they were out of the 6 ft cords?! And they dont have much variety with accesories either. Had to go all the way to a different store.
I bought my guitar from them and repaired it here too. I like my guitar, it is uniquely small which for my hands is perfect. Yeah they are super far from my house and it takes me forever to get there but get there I do. I think their hours could improve though it was super hard to get there when they were open . And also since I’m a beginner guitarist I have no idea if the suggestions they made were worth the extra charges so I hope they were!

The worst guitar setup I had in my entire life. First of, they put a shim in my neck pocket which I was then told by a more competent luthier it was not necessary. Secondly, they did not polish my frets, and when I asked them about it they said it was not included in the price of set-up, and should be an extra. The set-up and shim cost me $96.. am I really supposed to get my guitar back with rough frets? This does not make any sense. Thirdly, my high E string sounded dead.
So I brought it back, the “tech” grinded sort of holes in my nut without even asking me before doing it. I was really disapointed because this mod was not effective and changed the visual appearance of my nut. We are talking about a $1700 Stratocaster here.
So I finally brought my guitar to a qualified luthier, which I probably should not mention the name here (Laporte & Courchesne luthiers). As soon as he saw my guitar he pointed out how poor of a set-up Montreal Guitar had made. The neck was misaligned, the saddles were improperly adjusted considering my 9.5″ radius, my frets still had sharp ends, they weren’t polished etc. This second luthier turned my $1700 strat into a guitar that sounds like mayer’s strat. Montreal Guitars turned my $1700 Strat into a plank of wood that sounded like a Squier straight out of China.

As an electronics repair shop owner, I prefer to do everything in-house as much as possible, but if certain jobs require skill sets or equipment I simply don’t have then I don’t mind outsourcing it.
They’re one of the few places I know of that re-cone speakers.
En 2013, j’ai acheté une paire d’enceintes Electro-Voice ZX 4 à ce magasin. Après avoir attendu 5 semaines au lieu des 2 prévues, on m’a refilé des démonstrateurs qui n’étaient même pas identiques et un était abimé par une substance acide sur le dessus. Le gérant du magasin n’a pas cherché à discuter pour reprendre la paire mais j’ai dû débourser 100.00$ pour aller chercher et reporter les enceintes ( ça n’entre pas dans une petite auto et il a fallu payer quelqu’un avec un mini van ). Très peu recommandable, ce magasin. De plus, l’endroit est très délabré. À éviter!
-I brought my guitar here to be setup. The total (tax included) was 96$ for a setup with floyd rose. The setup took 2 weeks and was unsatisfactory. When I called the store back because I missed their call, the man on the phone was severely rude and told me no one had called me until he managed to walk around to actually do his job and ask and found his manager had called me. He was so quick to hang up once the phone call was over and seemed annoyed.
-The setup was supposed to include the setup, cleaning the electronics and oiling the fret board/cleaning. When I got my guitar back the guitar was not clean. My backplate screws weren’t even screwed in tightly enough.
-In conclusion, for the price and service quality I would not come back here at all. I have been a customer here for years and the service here has gone downhill. I would consider looking elsewhere (online or another store) for your gear.

Service hors pair et flexible, je suis venu en accompagnant quelqu’un et j’ai été immédiatement et gentiment abordé. L’acceuil est chaleureux sans être pressant, on sent que les employés sont là pour être sûr que toutes vos questions sont répondues même si vous n’avez pas fais d’achat.

J’y suis allée pour leur grande vente d’inventaire, et les prix étaient pas croyables! J’ai pu acheté beaucoup de choses que je n’aurais pas pu me permettre avant. Par contre, il est difficile de savoir comment payer à la caisse! Certains employés sont derriere la caisse, mais me font signe d’attendre la prochaine caissière (qui était avec un client depuis 10 minutes..) donc j’ai beaucoup aimé la place, mais ce serait bien s’il était plus facile de comprendre à qui on peut payer! La moindre des choses serait d’informer les clients. Personnes ne répondaient aux téléphones non plus. Très très décevant.
I took my guitar into the shop to have some minor fixes put on it, including the installation of a pre-amp that was supposedly going to take 2 weeks to cover. The service has been friendly, but it’s now been over a month and I haven’t heard a response from them concerning the status of my repair. I called in but had only received a vague response stating that “the guitar isn’t finished yet.” Luckily the guitar is my second instrument to the piano, but if I were a gigging musician relying on my guitar this would be completely unacceptable! The receipt states that I dropped off the guitar on March 10th 2016, it’s now April 11th 2016 with no prospect of the return of my instrument in sight…

Mark is an absolute wonder. I’d been on the hunt for a Strandberg Boden Bass since they were first announced, and to not have to travel all the way to Edmonton to make it a reality was really helpful. As soon as I made an inquiry into it, he was prompt, professional and incredibly patient with my constant delays in finally pulling the trigger and made sure communication throughout the setup and delivery was as on point as it could be.
Since then, he has also helped me purchase another hard-to-find item in the Darkglass ADAM pedal, letting me know when his limited stock was in and reserving one for me even when I had to wait on funds. AND most recently was prompt about getting in touch with Strandberg over a potential warranty issue in a heartbeat. I’ve never had customer service like this before, and it’s a breath of fresh air from most guitar stores and dealers I’ve dealt with.
Mark and by extension Musique Max Boutique are an absolute joy to deal with and you won’t be disappointed with what he brings to the table, both professionally and inventory-wise. He has made a customer for life with me.
Went for a pedal safari with my buddy today, decided we’d go visit the Musique Max on Frontenac. Parking was a breeze, removed our boots upon entry, put on some of the nice provided slippers, walked in and ogled at some gorgeous, high-end instruments and electronics. Met Mark who owns the shop and seems to be as knowledgeable as he is passionate about quality gear. This is an up to date boutique that carries a focused selection of high end, relevant, yet hard to find items. Shopping experience was great, felt like talking to a friendly custodian an art gallery rather than a grumpy and uninformed clerk. The man knows his products and clientele’s taste, clearly. Will be stopping by again soon!

Politique retour gratuit 30 jours n’est pas vrai , c’est dépendement au cas et décision de personnel .J’ai échanger une guitare pour une autre , puis il m’ont coupé d’argent pour le retour de la 1ère guitare qui a dépassé un mois , puis pour la 2e guitare , ils ont écrit sur la nouvelle facture que le depot 10% n’est pas remboursable en cas de retour même pour les premiers 30 jours .
Je crois que ma prochaine achats ne sera pas de chez eux .

Absolutely 5 star customer service! I was looking for a last minute gift of a digital piano and couldn’t find one in my price range anywhere in town. Best Buy had some, but at a location far away, and I always try to shop local instead of big box stores. These guys didn’t have one in stock either, but the owner (or staff member) actually DROVE to their warehouse to pick one up and have it ready in store in just a few hours! Thank you thank you!

I have a fender stratocaster that required a few upgrades and a tune up. I brought it in and had it back within 24 hours, in impeccable condition. By far the best service I’ve come across in Montreal. Highly reccomended.

It’s sad to see how scarce the selection of records is, especially considering what it used to be.
I’m always a book lover and want to support local business especially bookstore. I Bought books and pen in this store few times over the years. I have not been to here over one year I came to here today because I know the one in village is closed forever and felt sad,so I came by here just want to support if I can find the book I like but I would have never expected to be kicked out just because I read few pages.This time 2023 july 21 at night around 6:20 pm I was reading book for just 3 minutes and then first the male employee came to me asking me not to read squatting down I said I’m sorry and stood up and then 2 minutes later another female employee came to me asking me not to fold the book. Then I showed to her I didn’t damage the book and she took the book away,insisted and argued I can’t read in the store. There is no sign indicating opening books is forbidden and all the other customers in the store were reading without getting warned.
I told her I just read for at most 5 minutes she insisted I can’t read. Looking around,there were also other customers reading there and I don’t understand why she is being personal and particular about me. (I realized I might be discriminated)
I asked her name and wanted to talk to the manager because I felt unfair and insulted I told her it is improper for her to do this to me but she was not nice and seemed angry. Then I told the guy in the cash register what happened and he took her sides and he just wouldn’t let me have a way to talk to someone in charge about this situation and told me this is not library even I said I just stayed for few minutes.I was just choosing book…. And I have never had this issues before. But he called security guard. I was not even acting violent I was trying to be reasonable without getting aggressive at all, either verbally or physically
I may not have the perfect accent and look like a foreigner but I certainly did not deserve to be treated like a criminal by reading for a few minutes in a bookstore.
Why should I accept all the unfair treatment… The guy also said I folded the book and took book away,which is not truth,The book is intact and he wouldn’t let me take it back to take photos of the book status. I claimed this is racism and they don’t seem to care about my feelings. I think the discrimination is crime in Canada.

I originally wanted to buy the book because I wanted to learn French ,this experience totally ruined my night and feeling to buy it.

Worst customer service ever!! Went there the first time and they sold me the wrong guitar string. The second time i went the man told me the store was closed at 9:30pm when it says at the front it closes at 11pm.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Placed an order online for shipment, but realized that they were actually in my area, so I called and they sorted everything out for a pickup. They even applied a discount code for me that I had forgotten to enter upon checkout, and gave me a free bag, lanyard, and USB light. They also have a ton of stock in store, really nice to see.

A warning to anyone shopping online:
Don’t order from here if you want to be certain your order will arrive in 3-4 months or less, regardless of what the website says or what their customer service promises!
Here’s what happened to me:
In the first week of June, I ordered around 10 cables that came out to over $200 with free shipping as it’s over $200 pre tax. They charged my card immediately, and all items I ordered said the processing+shipping time was 1-2 days, or 1-2 weeks depending on the item so I didn’t think much as they clearly had this displayed on their website, and on the invoice I received. I was fine waiting 1-2 weeks. The prices were good, and in hindsight, they were too good. the cables I wanted were hard to find locally, and cost much more than RedOne was selling them for.
The next day their customer support (Stephan J) reached out to me, and said “actually all items are now 2-3 weeks or 6 to 8 weeks waiting time, sorry!”. I told them, “okay remove the items that will take 6-8 weeks, I cannot wait that long for these products and I’ll have to buy them locally. I cannot afford adding shipping on the items though, so please don’t add it due to your mistakes” He removed the items and I received an updated invoice. He added shipping charges to the order! It was only $10, but it put the cost up per item and I really couldn’t afford the extra cost on top of buying the items locally at a higher price. I asked him politely to remove this charge, as the shipping was added because their site and invoice was falsely claiming the items would arrive sooner, and with the removed item, it came out to slightly less than $200. I thought that it was reasonable for them to eat the shipping cost because of their mistake, but RedOne was not going to budge.
They fought on it for a week and at one point I was condescendingly told “If you want me to erase the shipping fees, you will have to pick that order in our store in Montreal.
let me know if that works for you! ” (yes this is the actual quote), knowing full well I was in a different province. At that point I said he was being unprofessional, and I no longer would like to do business with RedOne because of all the malpractices and frankly, illegal actions that were taking place by the company. “Please cancel my order and refund me my nearly $200”, I said. Stephen decided at that point not to cancel my order, and instead at that point removed the $10 shipping fee.
Now I missed this email, but noticed at the end of August (TWELVE weeks since I ordered the ‘1-2 week lead-time’ cables at that point) that I was not refunded yet. So I reached out to a different Customer Service representative (Soloman) as Stephen was not being friendly, and I asked “why my money wasn’t returned after I had requested it 2.5 months earlier? Please refund my money.” He said that there was no record of me asking to refund the money, but unlike Stephen, Soloman corrected the issue, and my money was refunded. Soloman is a good guy. It’s fortunate RedOne has him to slightly even out the horrid practices that RedOne engages in.
So all that said, RedOne seems to be a drop shipping company, who will go against customer protection laws and credit card agreements by holding your funds when they don’t even have to product (s) in hand yet. To sum it up:
-It was stated on their website that my order would take 1-2 weeks to ship out to me, and the invoice confirmed this.
– within that week, they changed the shipping time to 6-8 weeks for some of the items (but they won’t ship the products separately, the whole order is held back).
– they charged my card additional fees without my permission
– I asked them to cancel my order, refund money. They didn’t do either
– 12 weeks has gone by and there is still no sign of a refund, and the order is still “processing”. Keep in mind this is 10 weeks longer than their product pages said they’d take to ship. Don’t trust their estimates, they are over-promising and false advertising
– Don’t shop here!!! You may never get your order. Shop local even if it costs more
Bad online customer service. Takes a week to reply
Beware if your item is not in stock, it could take up to 6 months for them to arrive and even if they are in stock you have to call them every time to process your orders. Very disappointed, had to cancel my recent orders. They used to be good before.
Best store for Eurorack modules in the province, been in store only once wished I had more money on me seeing all the cool gear they’ve got! Been ordering there for a few years now, always happy with the service!

I placed an order on May 11 for a turntable cartridge and never got an estimated delivery date.
I had to chase down a delivery date for early July.
They don’t seem to stock the products they sell online, so next time I’ll just buy directly from the manufacturer as they did.
Moog is an inefficient middleman but I’ll credit them for not charging more than the manufacturer’s price.
Awful customer service beware! Tried to order online an OP-1 and I was told after almost a week that my order could not be shipped and had to be cancelled because the protection is ineligible… I verified with PayPal and I do have protection – filed a complaint. I don’t know about the brick and mortar stores but wanted to encourage local, I regret it. Ordered directly from manufacturer, with PayPal and all is fine. What gives Moog Audio? If you didn’t want to pay the PayPal fees don’t offer it as a payment method on your website…

Bonjour, je ne suis pas du genre à prendre le temps de laisser un commentaire sur Google Review mais cette fois-ci je fais exception car je tiens à souligner que je suis très satisfait de mon achat effectué chez Piano Vertu ce weekend. L’achat de mon K300 Aures est un gros coup de coeur pour ma famille. J’ai été super bien conseillé par Maxime. La livraison a été super rapide et faite de façon professionnelle, on sent que les clients sont leur priorité. Un gros merci! Je recommande vraiment cet endroit pour un piano neuf ou usagé.
I highly recommend Piano Vertu! The amazing quality and service, and very very good prices will not disappoint you!! The owner is extremely friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable and never engages in high-pressure sales tactics. His priority is to make the customer happy, with the piano they love … He let us come to a decision at our own pace while communicating with us in a timely manner, throughout the buying process. I was beyond impressed with how responsive he is!
One time when we visited the store, he went so far as to contact us while he was out of the country to check that we had managed to park ok, as we are from out of town. This is a store owner who really cares about the customer. I suggest going to Piano Vertu, to anyone who is interested in a piano.

I went into Piano Vertu looking for a Kawai VPC1. I met a sales person named Max who told me he had one to sell. I was unsure about the purchase because the total would be around 2,700 CAD. He assured me that if I was unhappy with my purchase I could simply bring it back, so I decided to buy it. A couple weeks later I decided it wasn’t for me (I like the acoustic sound more) so I called up the store and Max told me the store has a zero return policy on their digital instruments. I brought up the point that the reason I had decided to buy the piano in the first place was to try it out. He would not budge, I stated that he had told me I could return if I wanted to and still he refused. I was lied to, pure and simple. And to have a zero return policy on equipment almost 3,000 CAD is absurd. I will never go there again and I will tell every musician I meet the reason why.

J’ai donc appeler le magasin et parler avec Max, et il ma dit que le magasin n’a aucune politique de retour sur des instrument digital. J’ai donc fait le poitn que la raison pourquoi j’ai pris le piano, c’etais pour l’essayer. Il ne voualis rien savoir, je lui ait donc dit que c’est lui qui me l’avais dit et il n’a toujour pas voulus le reprendre. J’ai ete tout simple mentis et avoir aucune politique de retour sur un instrument de 2700$ est absurde. Je n’irais plus a ce magasin et je vais rencontrer cette mesaventure a tout les musicien que je rencontre.

It’s a cool record store with all the electronic vinyl. Only problem is it’s not in alphabetical order.
Wonderfully clean and organized shop. Friendly staff. This is a great destination for used and some new records and CDs. Just don’t expect any mainstream artists. All products are indie, local, and alternative offerings. If that’s your thing, you’ll feel right at home here.

Jimmy is amazing with vintage amps and electronics and Joey will straighten out your bass or guitar with expertise. Louis will write the bill . Highly recommended. They even serve coffee!

Cool d’avoir une place juste à côté de chez moi pour acheter des cordes de guits, et autres trucs vraiment de base. Par contre, la grande majorité des fois que je cherche quelque chose de moindrement spécifique, ils n’ont rien. Leurs fils 1/4 sont cher et ont l’air de qualité très ordinaire. Je comprends qu’ils ont un petit local qui ne peut avoir tant de marchandise, mais il y a un minimum il me semble…

When it comes to the more popular instruments like guitar, bass, drums, piano, etc they have a nice wide selection of different sorts. However I came in looking for a violin to buy but the selection I saw was just 2 of them hanging on the wall. One was not my size so the only options I had were none. But as stated above, if you are looking for instruments that are more popular to learn, you will have a nice wide selection coupled with workers who are willing to help.

J’ai été surplace pour faire évaluer 2 violons pour enfants. La personne possédant l’expérience pour les évaluer n’était pas là ce jour là mais il m’a rappelé très rapidement. Il a été très courtois et très professionnel. De plus, ses collègues de travail ont pris le temps de me conseiller de façon très précise pour m’aider à revendre les dits violons. Mon expérience client avec Wilder et Davis a nettement dépassé mes attentes. Quel professionnalisme !

(Besoin d’ajustement mineurs) Peux être m’avoir demander de quelle gamme il s’agissait avant de me faire dépenser 70$ dollars de transport ??? Jules St-Michel, Luthier sur Ontatio Ouest on effectuer le travail pour moins cher et j’ai été traité comme un roi.

Zero star if I can. Worst Luthier ever. They sell bad instruments at a very high price and the rent to buy program is a scam. They don’t know what they are doing. Just stay away from this place.
