This is a very cute store. The Tobermory branded clothing prices were better than the other stores. We bought some sweatshirts and tees to wear on our trip, and they were very soft and fit nicely.
They didn’t have what we wanted but pointed us in right direction.
Such a neat store with unique one of a kind items!!
A visit inside the Tobermory Trading Post is a fresh dive into Canadian culture, a trip back in time into Tobermory’s earliest years as a trading post between European settlers and First Nations that inhabited the area. The sight of a full wolf skin hanging on the wall exhumes cultural and historical relevance, and is highly symbolic of Tobermory earliest years in the fur trade, and is in and of itself itself worth a quick visit. The Town of Tobermory would not be the same without the iconic Trading Post.
Nice store. Sweatshirts not Canadian made by any sorts. Nice moccasins, fair price. The store owner could smile and be friendlier. But who knows what her story is. Maybe we all should help put a smile on her face…
Great stuff.
Later in the season, but the store shelves were pretty barebones. Not many choices for sizes in the clothing area and many shelves were empty. Not much to buy.
Racist attendant. The way she talked to us compared to “you know” . Racism is not dead.
Unfriendly, unwelcoming toward tourists (their lifeblood), what a shame.
2. Amplifiers Plus
Address: 52 Pedwell Point Dr, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
The work is always done right and well. Rich has worked on/over 5 of my own amps and many more of my clients’. I pray that he won’t retire. Ask players, I did, they’ll tell you where the good work gets done
Terrible. I was told “a week or two” when I brought my amp in, but even after 1 month (without even hearing from him) he still hadn’t started. So I stopped in to check and it was in the back, untouched… “I was just about to work on it”. I’m sure you were
Tobermory is BEAUTIFFULLL. If youre looking for an escape from the city life for a weekend this is the place to do it! The waters are crystal clear and bright bright BLUE. theres tons of boat rides and places to camp. The people are friendly and you support local small businesses when you shop here. Overall this place is amazing and i hope to live here one day 🙂
P.S if youre visiting tobermory, the flowerpot island is a MUSSSTTT. Make sure you bring a little picnic with you when you go and a bathing suit. Theres awesome places to swim and a really cool lighthouse museum!
Beautiful town
A pretty and clearly busy little harbour town at the end of the Bruce Peninsula.
I visited only for a few hiurs as part of a day long driving exploration of the whole region. On a warm and sunny summer Sunday afternoon, the area around the harbour could not have been any busier: every shop, restaurant, ice creamery, and bar seemed to have a crowd constantly flowing in and out.
Staying longer, perhaps at one of the many water front hotels or cabins, could only possibly make a visit to Tobermory better. Venturing further afield out onto the lake on one of the ferries would also be fun too.
Cmon Tobermory with all the money you make on ferry fees I’m sure you can afford a national gas station for your guests no offence pappy (sp?)
4. Tobermory Brewing Company & Grill
Address: 28 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Great beer, good food, excellent service. The server kept coming over and apologizing for the slow service, even though it wasn’t slow at all. We sat on the terrace facing the street, watching the boats coming in and out of the harbour. Nice and relaxing.
This place was hand down the our favorite pub/restaurant in town.
The place is well located overlooking the whole town with a large patio.
The inside was open with limited seating due to covid.
They have very friendly staff and great bartender who is very knowledgeable.
The draft is brewed in house at back of restaurant.
The food was Fantastic and will definitely be my first and maybe only choice next time we are in town.
We ordered the chicken wrap and homemade burgers which we Mouthwatering.
The calamari was good even though was not homemade but had great dip.
Drinks were also better priced compared to other places we tried.
Great people and place
Good food.. Bit burned cool place compared to other available pleases around.. Expensive
Very nice and friendly staff, good beer. Food was between great (nachos) and okay (fish and chips)
Expensive!
Rude staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience being tolerated. The online menu had gluten free options but on arrival surprise: sudden drop.of all gluten free options leaving literally nothing other than meat. Beer is good but not great with a notable exception of their dark. Since everything is on the upper end of cost, very disappointed. There are better options and I doubt very much we’d go back.
Only brew company I’ve even been to where two servers didn’t know what beer was what after telling me they drink them all the time cuz there all totes lit.
Fries are soft, ordered medium rare steak, it was well done. Waitress took our plate away when we haven’t finished the plate. I will not recommend people to come.
Awesome place close to everything in Tobermory. Rooms were a great size and very comfortable. Will be staying here again Anytime I visit the area
Absolutely adorable!
The Innkeeper Yvette is very kind and welcoming. She gave a little tour, let us know about the light breakfast available in the outdoor kitchen and provided a little tourist package letting you know what there is to do in Tobermory.
We stayed in the king loft. It was such a beautiful little set up with a separate entrance, little kitchenette, a nice balcony space outside, and a cute little sitting area inside. 5 minute walk to ‘downtown’ Tobermory where there are lots of restaurants and shops and the Harbour.
Awesome place to stay while in Tobermory! Quaint and quiet little place that is just a 2 minute walk away from the main town. The owners were very friendly and the property was clean and well maintained.
It looks okay
Love this place!
I stop in for a peek every time I get to Tobermory.
Great hosts. Very clean. Love the room! Thanks!
Had to cancel to be in compliance with provincial guidelines for COVID-19 as my son became ill within 14 days of trip. Cancelled 6 days in advance. Was charged $180 cancellation fee. Unconscionable! I do NOT recommend booking in advance.
When we visited Tobermory this place was the first (and at that point only) restaurant we saw after parking near the tourist info building and walking into town. It was colourful and immediately grabbed our attention. It seems this place is a few different things, one being a Taco stand when we came across it. The taco’s seemed a bit overpriced but we were hungry so we stopped in. After ordering it was made clear it would take over 15 minutes to get our order. We waited (again, due to hunger) until we were told it would be over 30 minutes. We decided to walk into town and come back for the food, and that’s when we saw the much greater choice the town offers. When we finally returned (and waited another 20 minutes) the taco’s finally came out. Disappointingly the meat was incredibly bland and dry, and the taco’s were tiny.
This place is a tourist trap and abuses it’s prominent appearance and location to rope in non-locals. Skip this place and final a real place to eat.
We stayed there for three nights, the place setting is nice but don’t expect room service. It is very quiet as surrounded by trees, however you can hear your neighbor flush the toilet or chat (let’s pray they don’t watch TV till 1am). There is no breakfast basically, coffee and tea bag provided ONLY. The location was great though…
In general I don’t think it worth $400/night.
P.S. We highly recommend the Burnt Point Loop which is only 5 min drive from the Guesthouse.
One of Ontario’s hidden treasures! Went on the 1:15pm sailing, beautiful sunny day, and great sights to see along the way. Staff were super friendly, and food was good, had cheeseburger combo. All good!
Interesante travesía en lago Huron.
Wish the website would suggest bringing tie downs for motorcycles. They provide 1 piece of rope not adequate to secure a motorcycle
Great place in the summer
horrible service. went online to try and book a ferry, the date I wanted said it had availability but it simply wouldn’t go through. I called their number at around 5pm, was on hold for 45 minutes and the second they picked up they hung up on me. In no way is this acceptable.
7. The Fish & Chip Place
Address: 24 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
The fish of choice was trout and it was delicious!
The best fish & chips in Tobermory
Great fish & chips with an excellent patio view.
I’m a vegetarian and we ordered veg tacos which were quite dry. The hosts were very cordial and the original draft beer was good too
Whitefish is very good: fresh and with a thin crispy batter (you eat more fish than batter!). Came back the next day for more.
Service could be more attentive though.
Nice cooked food but staff needs a lot of training. May be they forget customer support while staying in quarantine.
What a nasty place! Fish without any seasoning and salt deep fried; with skin and bones. Dirty restroom. Would not recommend to anybody.
My family of four had dinner there and every food and drink we ordered (expect the beer) was single use plastic or paper disposable. Too much waste.
Customer service was good and If it wasn’t for our young server Jack who was a nice lad with good personal skills it would have been a 1 star rating.
This is the worst place ever! Don’t ask for the fish tacos! They are 99.9 cabbage ! Also the service is horrible, not friendly at all! What a horrible experience!
Always a great experience. Owner is very patient and accommodating. Close to town, clean, more often than not. It’s quiet lol
Super friendly staff, nice location (close to Tobermory and Halfway Log Dump) and it’s dog friendly. We will stay again. Two issues – the bathrooms were not very well stocked (ran out of TP and soap) and communication before we arrived was lacking. Luckily we arrived on time, but found out when we got there they close at 5:30 however check-in had only started at 4 and it was a Friday. This should have been communicated in advance.
I got gas here. Didn’t realize it was full serve… Attendant didn’t tell me off for that, was friendly. Convenient location to get fuel. Cool old style pumps.
Stop by for gas, equipment is a bit outdated, but functional, had to go inside to pay, friendly people, but hardly anything interesting in the store
Do not take the risk on this place! No chance of refund even if weather is threatening severe storms.
Very disappointed at the unwelcoming nature of the owner. This was our fourth and final time at Roxy’s. We loved coming up to stay in the cabins because they were well kept and it was relaxing to sit and appreciate the serene nature. I am unsure if Craig was burnout this year but over the long weekend in July we stayed for 5 nights and were greeted by a very unwelcoming owner who stated that no one was making us stay there and that he didn’t care if he lost a customer here or there because people would always come up and stay at his facility due to the limited accommodations in the Tobermory area. He is probably correct, but this is no way to run a business. I can appreciate it takes a lot of work to keep a place like Roxy’s running, but our stay would have been much more positive if Craig, the owner, was more approachable and welcoming towards the tourists that keep his busines afloat. I am also a business owner and understand and appreciate all my clients are imperative in keeping my business going and was taken aback by the complaints about tourists by Craig. I have secured different accommodations for next year because we look forward to going up to Tobemory and don’t need a cranky business owner ruining our trip.
The rudest person you will meet in your life, we purchased 2 boxes of wood and couldn’t fit them in the car since they were loose ! and the box itself was 20$, we asked the store owner if we could come back in 15 min to take the rest and he said: “NO! you’re gonna take them Right Now or forget them, i am not keeping your wood, we are not joking here! “
9. Wireless Bay Cottages
Address: 112 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
These cottages where awesome, close into tobermory so it was a short walk to do all
My scuba diving, on site parking so you don’t need to bother with parking downtown. They clean this place well, only cons is the shower in cabin 5 was small, decent place and a good house keeping kept me happy, will be back
Couldn’t have been better! We rented the Juniper cottage for thanksgiving, had a blast. Great location, beautiful cottage that has everything you would need. Top notch service from Blue Huron staff. We are Looking forward to returning next season.
Super friendly proprietors, clean, good location.
Calling them was helpfull,
but the website is borderline useless
Our stay there was exhilarating. We had a clear view of lake and it was breathtakingly beautiful. The size of the cottage we stayed in could be a a bit big because we hardly had any space to move around.
I took off a star because the sheets/duvet were smelly like someone’s sweaty feet had been there. That made me question about their cleanliness.
Other than that I loved my stay there.
They have no clue what they’re doing. no knowledge or any experience how to make shawarma
Stayed in cottage 3 not fit for homeless people to live in. The cottage was dilapidated with crappy stained broken furniture. The toilet was so close to the sink you had to sit side ways to use it. Also it was $322 a night. I paid less for the sherton at niagra falls with top of the line everything. The pictures made it look better then it actually was. Had i know it was this bad before i paid I would have looked somewhere else. Stuck in my decision because of a wedding unable to just leave. The bay view was breathtaking but smothered by the disgusting cottage. Will never ever stay here again. They should advertise it as shack 3
NEVER ACCEPT COTTAGE NUMBER 3!!!! they said it is supposed to be a “RUSTIC” feel, but that cottage number 3 looked like a rundown house, on the verge of collapsing. No rustic feel to it at all. Oh, and the other cottages that are there, are newly renovated, as we decided to take peek at the differences. I’m not sure why number 3 is even provided to customers. Honestly, if you decide to go to Wireless Bay Cottages, make sure you don’t get #3. Worst cottage experience ever. I didn’t even bother taking pictures of the cottage because it wasn’t worth the space on my phone. Still pissed from this horrible experience.
Wonderful clean cozy place. Owners really made us feel welcome.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very well located to downtown Tobermory.
Rooms were awesome !!!!! TV air conditioning and WiFi. What else could you ask for !!!! Service was great and friendly !!!!!
Friendly staff.
Clean, friendly.
Nice beautiful thanks
Nearby activities: Beautiful
I understand that you can’t expect much form a motel but the bare minimum should be that the room is clean. Aside from the musty smell (which did not go away after airing the room), the room overall was very dirty and one of the beds was slanted. The fridge even had a hair inside of it. We understand the demand in Tobermory is very high in the summer but considering we are paying over $200 a night, we expect the place to be clean at the very least.
Honestly this was the only place vacant for my stay at tobermory. Other than the motel it’s a great location for nearby attractions. I just find that the prices were unreasonable… The rooms were decent, I honestly found that there were a lot of insects especially in the washroom and the shower was tiny… My boyfriend complained that the running water didn’t look “clean.” Also, there’s a weird smell in the rooms kind of like a musty, mouldy smell. I didn’t end up taking a shower here despite staying for 2 nights. Other than that, there’s AC/heating unit, a small tv, free wifi (didn’t work most of the time), free coffee, free soaps, towels and a fridge. My boyfriend thought the owner was weird but friendly so I’m not sure what that meant.
No cleanness beds were not cleaned we staying for three nights paid 1600
dollars for three nights three couples not worth to stay at this price
11. Mariner Chart Shop
Address: 17 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Best place in tobermory for shirts and what not…. we go every year
great selection of Tobermory gifts and clothing. prices were reasonable and we found some nice unique things here. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. my thanks to her for making our shopping experience enjoyable and memorable. My wife loves her t-shirt( the last one in the store that the young lady took out of the display for us).
Love this shop. Lots of unique items for souvenirs. I particularly like the setup in the store. You can feel the theme to sail right inside the store.
2022 July 3★
A nice shop with sea faring products that are geared towards souvenirs for tourists. Here you’ll find lots of clothing, sweaters, t-shirts, hats, caps, mugs, oceanic maps (some even historical) and other trinkets.
Being near open waters, oddly they didn’t (and would suggest) that they carry towels and have other options.
While a good stop and the staff is nice, the selection is limited – unless you wanted clothing.
A great shop to purchase Tobermory and Georgian Bay souvenirs. Good quality and selection of sweatshirts, t-shirts, books and gifts. We purchased two souvenir maps from this shop that are now hanging in our home as part of our decor, but it’s the place to go for “real”, usable charts and maps.
We liked the selection. Got a few original souvenirs. The service was very nice.
Employee was disrespectful towards me and my friends who wanted to buy hoodies. Instead of respectfully telling us that we need to ask for assistance if we want to try out different hoodie size on the stock rack, he started to tell us in a very disrespectful defensive tone and unpleasant comments even though our intention was to buy those hodies. Did not offer assistance at all or acknowledge our presence until we touch the stock hoodies. Definitely did not enjoy our shopping experience here, we did end up buying 4 hoodies but left disappointed and angry in how we were being treated by unfriendliness of this particular staff.
Didn’t acknowledge my presence in any way. All they did was complain about their work. Same experience last year I came in.
Employees too busy talking about another employee and taking sick days. No acknowledgement of customers and offering to help or even saying hello.
12. Mementos of Tobermory
Address: 5 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Amazing gift shop in Tobermory!! Great selection and pricing!! Visited once and bought somethings, came back the next day because there was a throw that I just couldn’t get my mind off of, especially for the price! Love it!
Great and friendly service. Can’t wait to go back!
Great shop with friendly service and locally made items!
All kinds of good products for locals and tourists. I love that they obviously make an effort to support local artists and Canadian made product. Everything is high quality and gorgeous
when I was like, five years old me and my parents stopped here to look at gifts just to learn everything was insanely overpriced. Only reason I give this five stars is because the uneven pavement out front decided to traumatize me because I fell and split my knee wide open. Refused to give me bandages too so little five year old me, bleeding out on the concrete, had to be dragged to the next shop over
Tasty food. Guacamole was fresh. Service was friendly. Order three tacos because one may not fill you up if you are hungry. Lots.of gluten free options. $$$ expect to pay more for delicious, healthy food
Surprisingly Best Veg Aloo Masala Sandwich for vegetarians. Must try Aloo Masala & Egg sandwich when in Tobermory. For a change try Jackfruit Tacos too.
Parking: Beautiful for a short trip with satisfying scenic views.
Highly recommend visiting here! Tried the chicken pesto and the Cuban sandwiches and they tasted fantastic and authentic! It’s such a great homemade feel and the iced latte was nice as well!
Good food but pricy
The food was alright.
We had Grande Breakfast eggs with aloo masala and French toast. Fresh food. A bit surprised with the Breakfast. The eggs and masala were put between 2 slices of plain bread. The aloo masala was oozing out, taste was great, and it was extremely messy to eat. It would have been great on a toasted bread, or bun, or in a taco. French toast was good. Plating didn’t exist it was served in take out container. Food was expensive… $9 for a latte was a bit much. The place is great, clean, outdoor patio was fun. The owner hosts were friendly, and explained the menu well. I was looking for a Mexican dish to enjoy which they don’t serve for breakfast. Thank you for putting a great effort and all the best.
Expensive as heck and you get the SMALLEST portions you’ve ever seen. 20 dollars for tiny tacos that are barely filled…. I’m taking about not even half full …. 8 dollar ice teas – this place is nuts to charge for the quality of food. So disappointing- amazing vibe with the music but food was big thumbs down.
Nice enough folks but it tasted like Microwaved Tacos with nicely cut onions. Also super overpriced.
Extremely horrible taste!! I ordered a veggie burrito and a single aloo masala taco. The food is just tasteless. The sauce tasted spoiled and the tacos had just salted bolied potatoes and onions. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Waste of money.
15. Stella’s Gelato & Café
Address: 12 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Their vegan gelato options are just as good as their regular flavors. I appreciate the inclusivity of this café.
Good handmade gelato, for 6$ with zero sugar added
It’s a small little gelato & coffee cafe. Gelato is flavourful, and they have a variety of flavors to try.
Dietary restrictions: They had a gluten free, dairy free gelato option.
Kid-friendliness: My child sat while we ate gelato.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp up to the cafe.
Good taste, price for the tourist spot. Good service
Okay, I had no intention on getting anything here but ordered gelato and a cappuccino. The gelato was okay. Didn’t do anything for me but that being said I am a bit biased as I had recently had gelato in a store in Barcelona that would blow your taste buds into orbit. So it was okay. Tasted the cappuccino and was pleasantly surprised. This was a good capp. Very pleasant and even let the barista know he did a good job. Atmosphere, well it’s an ice cream/gelato shop, it is what it is.
Coffee was below average. Tasted like flavoured hot water. Nice staff though and the gelato was alright.
The place is very stingy with the ice cream; it’s literally two tablespoons for 6 bucks. They do not fill the size requested like other Gelato places. Completely not worth the price. I wish I had taken a photo to post.
I chose the strawberry yogurt gelato in a small cup . I should of tried a sample first . It was awful no flavour! I went back to ask to get another flavour and showed the lady that only two small bites were taken . She said , “sorry you have to pay for a new one we don’t just give you a new one”. I threw out my cup didn’t even continue to eat the rest of it . Don’t get the strawberry yogurt one it’s awful
16. Shipwreck Lee’s
Address: 2 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Great place to eat. The white fish and chips is on point. Yes the price is higher than other towns fish and chip places but it’s a tourist town. What do you expect?
Great place to eat good fish and have some landmark beers
Amazing fish but if the boys really want to stand out with their fish, they really need to make their own tartar sauce and make home made fries. I guarantee they’d be number one in the whole region!
Miejsce o szczególnym wyglądzie. Na pewno nawiązuje wystrojem do nazwy. Jedzenie typowe dla tego typu smażalni ryb, czyli takie sobie.
Food was okay. The all you can eat fish and chips do not include extra fries. The food came with plastic cutlery and packaged Tatar sauce so it felt very cheap and difficult to cut through the fish with a plastic fork and knife!
Decent food, great service, and fun themed.
Have to say this is the worst fish and chips ever. Food arrived cold so I sent it back. Next portion arrived and I couldnt even cut it ..they had the nerve to even try to charge me at which point I left ..hungry. The only good experience was the servers.
La Nourriture est horrible. Nous avons eu un très mauvais service. Il y avait un erreur sur la facture et ils ont jamais voulu la corriger.
I did not like the food at all
17. On the Water Kayaks
Address: 53 Bay St, Tobermory, ON N0H 2R0, Canada , Tobermory , Ontario , Canada
Amazing experience! Prices are great, staff working were very kind and they even had a dog life jacket for our pup to use!
There are a variety of kayaks for you to choose. The rental price is quite high but the staff and service is good.
The best time to play kaykak is on sunny days where you could easily see the shipwrecks from the kayaks. Besides, go before 3pm as later it is fully booked.
One hour is enough for you to explore three nearby shipwrecks. If you would like to go to near the lighthouse, it would take two hours for a round trip.
Nice experience on the Georgian bay cruise. 2hrs 30mins tour.
Participated on the FUN tour, unfortunately wasn’t able to see the Grotto due to rough water. Rain poncho’s were provided but we sat in the front and decided not to wear them. Area toured was gorgeous especially Flowerpot Island! Captain and deck staff were extremely friendly but staff at the front desk definitely lacked enthusiasm. Masks are encouraged, but no one wore them probably because you do get wet on this ride.
The employee was so rude and unfriendly, he didn’t gave us any instructions.
One of the employees was being unfriendly to us and did not allow us to rent a boat. It is better not to waste any money in this place and there are much better choices. Stay away from them!
July 10,2022.It was bad experience to rent a Kayak there. Staff was super rude. Girl at ticket window and person who helps to get in the boat were super rude. Girl at ticket window was so dull and rude , probably she was not happy with her job. Highly NOT recommended place .Sasha is only person I would deal with , great person. Other 2 should not be in that job .
We both loved our 3-taco combos, pork, chicken and veggie, all were delicious and reasonably priced. After taking our order, Marty proceeded to turn off the good tunes they had playing, grabbed a guitar and played us an even better song. I will probably now associate that song with good food truck tacos and the good people of Tacomory. Will be back again soon.
Great food
The tacos were delicious!
Everything closed by 9:00 which is ridiculous except ONE restaurant and I’m sorry but I can’t remember the name of it. Shipwreck or something like that… The tours were great and the people were great also!
If someone looking for fresh food this is the place.tobermory has mainly fried food or fast food.
Though i felt the taco was costly I paid 5$ for 1 taco.i felt salad would be more worth money.
This has great customer service, warm welcome.
It’s fresh
Tasty but expensive for what you get
Flavourless tacos. If you have a bland palette this spot will suit you. It’s also overpriced.
Nacho joke was a real joke. Never seen nachos with cold shredded cheese
Tortillas, chips, salsa were all store bought. Toppings were stale and meat had to flavor. Our food was left at the counter for over 5 mins while we waiting right at the truck with no line up. Please drive away if you have other options.
