Not a big line and it moved quick. Besides that, just your usual Walmart.
Renovations ongoing. Still open. Making it bigger and better. Lots of other stores in the area here too. Original Walmart for guelph. Groceries are compatible to other grocery stores. Lotto booth here too. Photo studio. McDonald’s. Eye glasses and examination. Neil place. Family good bakery here too. Clean washrooms
Typical Wal-Mart
Walmart
Great store. Now just getting renovated which is starting to look awesome.
Will soon stop shopping here. Only one teller in the express lane with a long lineup but 8 self serve kiosks open. Which means less staff and more profit
Be careful buying items on sale or liquidation. There are no refunds, no returns and since Walmart seems to lack common sense…no exchanges. This store would rather lose customers than post these regulations for all to see.
I grocery shop early to avoid foot traffic and every time there are no cashiers only self check out. I don’t want to self check out a cart load of groceries WaMart. It’s ridiculous hire more cashiers cheapskates.
2. Bureau en Gros
Address: 55a Boulevard du Plateau, Gatineau, Quebec J9A 3G1, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
My usual go to printing place. Very happy with the services and the location.
Bon service d’Impression en ligne
Not too many people respected their distance everyone wore masks.
Very good
Recently, I had to ship an envelope from Canada to Indonesia. Bureau en gross (Staples) accepts not only FedEx but also DHL and possibly some other courier companies as well. They even sell Canada Post stamps. I bought many stationery stuff there, too.
Bah.
I only go I’m here to drop off ups packages.
I load a printing card and they put the wrong amount on it. I ask for the money they screwed me over for back and they said well call you. Really guys youre a bunch of clown shoes who screw people over. How can you not know how to count? Manager doesnt care one bit their clients are getting screwed cuz their cashiers cant count money.
Three days later no call. I Knew theyre a bunch of lying thieves. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Unless getting ripped off is what you like.
Update 3 weeks later I called and they call me a liar and that it didnt happen. They didnt even check cameras or finance books for me & they know damn right they screwed me over. They’re liars and thieves the whole store even the managers.
Excellent service. As a new buyer, I was concern about so many things, they helped me with everything so patiently especially the guy Jonathan. Amazing experience.
4. Musique Max Boutique
Address: 4275 Rue Frontenac, Montreal, Quebec H2H 2M4, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Never went to the store personally as I don’t live in Quebec but I recently made a purchase online and working with Andrew was a real pleasure. They shipped using Purolator instead of Canada post due to the strike to make sure I got the item before Christmas.
Highly recommended!
Mark is a passionate person with a lot of experience in the music industry ! A memorable experience it was to buy my first Strandberg, also to mention that he put extra time looking for the perfect stand for it. Best guitar i’ve ever played, I am definitely bewitched 😉 Thanks again for your patience, great communication and quality service ! !
Mark sold me a Strandberg guitar and I’m super satisfied. I hope I have the occasion to return there soon. This place offers high end instruments, amplifiers, etc. The stores as a lot of accessories to and the place is welcoming.
Cool

It takes a long time. They do a rather good job. Neck replacement with Fender warranty was very long. I was offered a aging finish to fix a problem on my Jazz 60th anniversary. It doesn’t look like someone took a rasp to do the job like on Fender factory basses. Sadly I had a set of old chrome flat wound on my 70’s anniversary that needed the neck replacement and they didn’t had those and charged me for the strings. It’s a costumer lost situation of a good more expensive set of string that it was on and aged flat wounds sounds hell better. Still am going back there for a neck on an other bass.
The worst guitar setup I had in my entire life. First of, they put a shim in my neck pocket which I was then told by a more competent luthier it was not necessary. Secondly, they did not polish my frets, and when I asked them about it they said it was not included in the price of set-up, and should be an extra. The set-up and shim cost me $96.. am I really supposed to get my guitar back with rough frets? This does not make any sense. Thirdly, my high E string sounded dead.
So I brought it back, the “tech” grinded sort of holes in my nut without even asking me before doing it. I was really disapointed because this mod was not effective and changed the visual appearance of my nut. We are talking about a $1700 Stratocaster here.
So I finally brought my guitar to a qualified luthier, which I probably should not mention the name here (Laporte & Courchesne luthiers). As soon as he saw my guitar he pointed out how poor of a set-up Montreal Guitar had made. The neck was misaligned, the saddles were improperly adjusted considering my 9.5″ radius, my frets still had sharp ends, they weren’t polished etc. This second luthier turned my $1700 strat into a guitar that sounds like mayer’s strat. Montreal Guitars turned my $1700 Strat into a plank of wood that sounded like a Squier straight out of China.
Their website is aweful!
7. A Paul Boutique
Address: 112 Mont-Royal Ave E, Montreal, Quebec H2T 1N8, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Best selection of Beatles merch and vinyl i have ever seen
Cute little store with old CDs, records, and other items. Provided a great deal on buy two, get one free CDs.
Everything u want from an underground place. Not just vinyls, rare books never spotted elsewhere, dvds, magazines & clothing. Quirky as it oughta be.
Amazing postcard selection!!!!! Bring cash
Great selection of used records, rare books and comics. The prices are steep, however. This guy will typically charge 2x what you would pay elsewhere. Buyer beware!
Large selection of great stuff, but all invariably way overpriced and usually in shabby condition. Service is hit or miss, as you can see from the other reviews, the owner can be more than a little rude. You can safely skip this spot.
Pretty messy and somewhat dirty shop overall. Prices and selection were ok. Couldn’t browse everything because of the weird layout. One of the few local shops I probably wouldn’t return to.
Extremely rude, racist and arrogant owner. Made fun of us and shooed us out the store when we are trying to make a purchase. Horrible customer service and unpleasant experience. Overpriced too. Avoid at all costs!
8. Timpano-percussion
Address: 2174 Mont-Royal Ave E, Montreal, Quebec H2H 1K3, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Bon service!
I was in search for a full size violin for my son and looked in Ottawa,Toronto, and other stores in Montreal but couldn’t find one within my price range. Another violin mom recommended Wilder & Davis and they did not disappoint!
They have a large selection and always new instruments coming in. I couldn’t find one the first time, but went back a few weeks later and found “the one”. Actually, after taking the instruments home, I liked them so much, I ended up buying two! One for my daughter to grow into.
The staff was friendly, flexible and understanding through out the whole process…which can be tiring and takes so much patience 😉 Delivery was easy and made an out of town purchase a breeze. Thank you Jordan for making our first big violin investment a memorable one!
Excellent Service!
Brought my cello for an inspection as the spring weather change took a toll on it. The employee quickly saw the minor repairs and we discussed it accordingly to my budget. Good customer experience.
Wilder & Davis has been our go-to luthier for years. Our daughter began playing violin when she was very young, and every time we needed new strings, or there was an issue with her bow, we would go here. When we bought her her 4/4 violin, we bought it from Wilder & Davis. We came back time after time because of the good service.
Recently, my husband bought me a used cello – an instrument I have wanted to learn to play for years. It is not a great instrument, but it is nice to have the opportunity to learn. There were some issues with it, and we brought it in for some minor adjustments, and to replace the strings, and to purchase a new bow. All told, this worked out to $600.
At my next lesson, my bow broke as I was putting rosin on it. As well, my teacher had an issue with the C and G strings. According to her, several of her students have had similar problems with the C and G strings from that company, and she has tried to bring it to the attention of Wilder & Davis in the past. She asked that I bring the cello back to have the strings replaced, and to provide her feedback (including a recording she made of them being played).
We went in on Saturday, and were met by a sales associate. When we explained the problem, he asked to look at the cello. As soon as he saw it, he became very dismissive. He would not listen to the recording, and would not even listen to the strings in person. Instead, he asked where we had bought the cello, and when we told him we had bought it used, and did not know its origins, he pulled up an image of a similar-looking cello from Amazon, showed it to us, and told us that Wilder & Davis didn’t put good strings on instruments that were such poor quality, as there was no point.
The sales associate eventually deigned to replace the strings, and replaced the bow (which we had purchased from Wilder & Davis) but was rude, dismissive, and pretentious throughout the interaction. I felt shamed for having an instrument that was somehow deemed unworthy of any proper attention (though there had been no such issue when we had brought it in for repairs).
Originally, my plan was to play this instrument for a couple of years, and save up some money in order to buy a better instrument from Wilder & Davis. However, this interaction has me wondering if I should go to a different luthier in future.
10. Phonopolis Record Store
Address: 207 Rue Bernard O, Montreal, Quebec H2T 2K5, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Ma boutique préférée en ville. Sélection super intéressante. Le personnel est super courtois.
nice selection
A bit pricy but a very cool place to look for vinyl collection
Small store focussed on one or two genres.
I recently checked out Phonopolis during my first visit to Montreal. It’s basically across the street from Sonorama so that is very convenient for us vinyl junkies.
The shop is pretty small, but clean and organized. They mix new and used vinyl which I personally dislike. They had way more new than used. I did like their listening station.
The overall selection was weak. I technically bought one, but it was off their discogs page. I just picked it up there. Upon actually browsing though I walked away with nothing. The shop didn’t pack any punch. The dude working behind the counter could really seem to careless people were in there. Very minimal acknowledgment.
Although I was very happy with the record I grabbed from their discogs page, I was quite disappointed overall with the selection, especially compared to other shops I visited in the area.
Answered all our questions and gave excellent service….. would go back anytime
Small store , friendly stuff , amazing customer service . Thanks
Jimmy’s music store is wonderful. It’s like a mini version of what Steve’s Music Stores used to be except with real people and no hierarchy that you have to walk to a separate cash and then bring back the receipt. It’s real one-on-one contact with real instruments real amps and real accessories all within hands reach & Eyes view.
Both Jimmy and 10 are Ultra helpful and quite experience and they have a bit of anything and everything that you possibly need in guitars amplifiers and all the accessories along with the knowledge. They do some repair work and they reset guitar necks, and a whole lot more. Nice folks nice store and the pleasure to walk in and hang out for what little space they have because it’s chock-full of guitars amps and everything. For me it’s like a candy store! Jimmy’s looking for a cabinet for me and wrote down the info and nobody else does that anymore! What a treat to deal with these guys. And there’s always some good music playing in the background too .. usually Blues! 🙂
It’s definitely the candy store
syndrome in this music store!
.yum yum!
Friendly and knowledgeable, good prices.
Very good service and professional advice. Limited assortment of guitars.
A nice spot for mostly guitar stuff, with a few other odds and ends. Worth stepping into.
Rude, nothing execptiobal and overprice
Owner very impolite, got a capo for 30$ when other stores are 15$… Same brand and model.
Wow. It’s cold in there. I was the only guy in the store when I walked in and it was as though he didn’t want me there. So I looked around and left. Absolutely horrible service. Don’t go.
The service provided is great and the instruments are mind blowing
Love to go there once in a while to play with new stuff. The sellers are friendly
I got what I was looking for
Bon service
I found their customer service abrupt and not very communicative. I’ll shop elsewhere myself now.
La boutique a complètement changée. Beaucoup moins conviviale qu’avant. Et le site web est moche.
One of the coolest record stores around, also a cultural hub and great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to interesting music.
Muy bueno
Un choix pointu de vinyles… Parfait pour les mix DJ
Le paradis du 12 pouces ! Plusieurs importations exclusive un choix unique à Montréal à découvrir définitivement
.
Very friendly folks with some very reasonably-priced records. I am new to the vinyl scene and don’t have the most sophisticated taste – I was mostly looking for oldies and bargains to build my collection. With that in mind, I got the feel that that isn’t really the business model for this place (more of a modern, audiophile vibe). That being said, I found some great deals and felt very welcome. I just wish that the shelves under the top bins were more clearly labeled. Would definitely recommend checking it out regardless of your taste!!
Pauvre type…
Weak.
Terrible tunes, terrible people. Not worth a visit
15. Centre De Musique Diplomate Ltee
Address: 311 Rue Beaubien E, Montreal, Quebec H2S 1R9, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Wow Quelle service!
5 ☆
Super bon service
Good place for your guitar needs. Great selection of Taylor guitars. Family owned by good people who have been here for as long as I can remember going way back to when they were located on St. Viateur.
Très bonne sélection, bon service.
I bought a new Fender guitar at your establishment and was offered a free set up with the purchase. At the same time that I brought in my new guitar for this service I also brought a guitar I already had that needed some work done. When I returned to pick up both my guitars I found the old one had been cleaned but none of the work I had requested had been done and the new one was damaged and also had not been worked on in terms of setting it up. I was charged $80 for simply changing the strings ! The job was absolutely not what I had asked for, the work was not done. I was essentially robbed of $80.
The employee actually had the nerve to try and blame me for the damage to the new guitar. This Fender was in perfect condition when I brought it in, and had there been any damage it would have been seen that same day when I handed it over and it was looked at.
This insult was followed by some of the most ridiculous excuses as to why they had not done the work beginning with how I tune my guitar?! This was followed by, and I quote , “ If I can get something to work 85% of the time and have the crowd enjoy it then I know I did a good job”. Is that the standard of service offered here? As long as no one notices it’s good enough? Obviously they do not know what they are doing and would rather hire inexperienced and unknowledgeable employees that do inferior work and then instead of taking responsibility, BLAME THE CLIENT!
Diplomate does not care about the clients or giving a good service. They only care about taking your money.
Listened to the owners saying some of the most racist and islamophobic things I have ever heard said in my life about Black people and Muslims – and in front of their children. I told them I couldn’t believe I was hearing what they were saying, they told me to “go read a Bible.” Unbelievable and very scary. Do not give them your business.
16. Spec
Address: 480 Rue Gilford, Montreal, Quebec H2J 1N3, Canada , le Plateau , Quebec , Canada
Punk vinyl, vintage Mad magazines and skateboards.
Small place, but with great character. The gentleman who worked there, you could tell he loved what he was doing but respected your space and your interest in searching through his collection. A lot of random old stuff you can find there. Also, metal and punk records. I loved the selection and the variety abd obscurity provided in this shop. Homey and authentic. I would def check it out if you’re looking for things you won’t find anywhere else. Also, inexpensive.
Un endroit vraiment cool !
Magasin impecable
Should be open and it’s not. Onto the next of many Vinny stores in the area.
18. Beatnick Records
Good selection of vintage vinyl.
Bon choix de disques.
Fantastic selection and prices, but crappy attitude from employee that will make me think twice about going back as a regular customer.
The person on the phone was extremely rude and far from helpful. Would recommend anywhere else just based on a phone call.
19. Freeson Rock

Bon choix de neuf et usagé…
Ambiance calme..
A 5 minutes du Métro.. .
Un coup de coeur….
Mostly cds,
Guy who worked there was a dick.
