A good place for the musicians and instuments purchase
Best music store anywhere for all your music needs. I have been a customer since the first store opened in the 60’s. Great job Jack.
We were astounded by how polite and friendly our staff was (Dwight). He explained how to handle a violin properly for the sake of my sister(who is new to it), provided the renting infos clearly, and was extremely patient with us. Thank you Dwight for letting us have a great experience with Long & McQuade!
Love this store. Massive selection and competitive prices. Need more Yamaha live audio gear though.
You don’t have much choice but Long and McQuade if you’re looking for high-end equipment. The selection is great at the Bloor location.
I guess musicians appreciate this place more than regular folk
Music repair staff was extremely rude. I will be taking my instrument elsewhere.
The absolute bare minimum of service. Nobody cares, nobody tries to help.
Called to see if they have a piano tech before bringing my piano in. Instead of telling me when I can bring it in, manager told me their tech is not available and referred me to stores OUTSIDE of Toronto, which led me on a wild hunt to find other piano techs in Toronto, who don’t even exist in the first place for Casio. Only found out at the end of my hunt; manager obviously knew this otherwise i wouldve neen referred to someone local. I wish they just offered to take care of this for me turning me away and misleading me. As soon as the referred techs picked up the phone they were surprised to here I was in Toronto bc who in their right mind would rent a car and drive hours to check in a repair? Just careless.
2. Steve’s Music Store
Address: 415 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5V 2A5, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Steve’s Music, a music store chain that opened in Montreal in 1965, expanded to include Toronto and Ottawa, and today is considered indispensable for music equipment in each city.
Honestly the best music shop ive ever been to. Ive taken multiple guitars, multiple times for repairs and its always done in a week or less! Great all around service. Staff is always ready to answer any questions and everyone is very passionate about their craft. You guys rock!
Great music store
It was nice in here just a bit too expensive for what I needed
Great service and lots of choices
could be the worst music store in the GTA. If you like shopping there I can only assume you haven’t tried anywhere else.
Bad headphone selectin
It’s a first time ever, I leave a review at some business. Ever.
12 days ago I bought a DJ Traktor controller s5, for 1241.87 CAD cash.
I did not like the controller at all and came to the store and wanted to get my money back or even credit at the store.
SURPRISE! There is a peace of A4 paper down the table with writes, “All the DJ stuff, computer, software…bla bla bla, final sale”. Excuse me, that wasn’t an open box, it’s a brand new sealed in a box Native Instrument product, that I can return in any other store in 14 days and 30 days at Long & McQuade stores! They said that it is because of the software. But didn’t use it, cause I had already Traktor Pro before. So any way, there are no refunds, they said.
And on a question, What I suppose to do now with that? It is embarrassing to copy his words, but anyway. He answered: NOTHING, NOW YOU STUCK WITH THAT, ITS YOUR PROBLEM. So guys if you respect yourself, believe me, that’s not the place that deserves your attention time and money. There are a lot of other stores that you can choose from. LONG & MCQUADE, COSMO MUSIC, AVSHOP, MOOG AUDIO and many many more. So good luck to you and hope that this review will be helpful to you.
Enjoy the music.
3. Remenyi House Of Music
Address: 109 Vanderhoof Ave Suite 15, Toronto, ON M4G 2H7, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Very solid and professional advice. Bought an amazing instrument. Go for quality, Go for Remenyi expertise. Expect to pay for it.
I really had the best customer service ever!. I wanted to purchase a new violin bow, but live far from the shop. I spoke with the most pleasant, patient and knowledgeable person. His name is Sergei. He talked me through what he was sending via ground courier for me to try. They came in a well protected case. Gave me plenty of time to try the bows to see what I prefer. Sent me the price list and explained about the bows. This all came with the bows so I could use it to refer too. He also made sure the price was on a little sticker on the bows for easy reference. He also emailed me the courier tracking number so I could ensure someone was home to receive it. Once I made my decision he made it extremely easy to complete my purchase using my visa. I used the same courier to ship the bows not chosen back to him. I will definitely be purchasing again from Sergei in the future. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me.
Nice and clean store. Comprehensive, especially for piano books and sheet music. Violin supplies are a bit higher priced than Soundpost. Other than that, reliable store. Nice staff.
I like the place.
They carry a wide range of modesty priced beginner and intermediate level guitars. The small smattering of high-end guitars should offer something for pros and the well heeled. My impression is that these too are properly priced. Shop around
I don’t play piano, and this is what Rememyi has been known for, historically. They do have them here. Not like the Bloor Street location which I remember being like a piano ” museum”.
Complete with sheet music and lots of gear and stuff.
Similar to the similar tent, St. John Music. I’m happy to see a shop like this in the area.
It’s okay
The gentleman that works on the first floor was wonderful. I didn’t catch his name but he plays cello as well as teach it. He was very helpful and turned on the electric grand piano for my son who was very interested in trying it out.
The staff in the basement however are another story. I had to ask for help and when i did they seemed almost annoyed with me. Also the basement isn’t accessible. They do have a huge selection of music books, everything i wanted they had.
Went in there ready to purchase an acoustic guitar and the fool that works there wouldn’t let me test out the tap harmonics. Told me it’s too much wear on the frets. How am I supposed to try out a guitar before buying it. I’m on my way to Long and Mcquade. Much more friendly, less snooty staff. Much more inventory. Never go here.
Sucks
Very racist. They underrated my language fluency and said get the 0000 out of here
4. Long & McQuade Pro
Address: 2 Eastern Ave, Toronto, ON M5A 1H3, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Jim and Quashie (I hope I got that right!) are great if you have any questions or just want to chat about audio and equipment.
Wonderful audio and sound equipment shop with unbelievably priced rental hire of quality equipment.
We rented a PA and two microphones complete with all kit for just $55 for 4 days.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
They also have a lovely range of electronic pianos and other musical instruments, amps, audio equipment to buy.
Really great discovery!
This is really a very very good store. Well run and staff is very knowledgeable. The manager is great. Matteo, Pat, and Ankit were all tremendous! Definitely a must visit music store for anyone in the city! Especially for people who are into keys, synths, hifi, streaming, home studios, and singers.
Must visit
Downtown core location, limited type of instruments / Keyboards, Sound Mixers, DJ Consoles, speakers, headsets, Connection cables, few Ukuleles
I ordered some new strings and stand for my guitar online and missed an item during checkout. I emailed them and got a response within 24 hours. After 4 weeks of waiting I found out that it never left their warehouse and something went wrong with the order on their system. I had to come in to to pick up my order. I waited 30 minutes, they seem short staffed due to Covid-19, so I had a walk around. The store was nice and had a lot of variety. In the end I got my order and I would order from them again, just don’t ask them to combine orders or modify the order in anyway.
Refuse to honor their “Price Match Guarantee”, the reason for their refusal because the competing Steve’s Music was “Out of Stock”. Though Steve’s Music still offers the ability to purchase the item at the given cheaper price and will order and have it sent to you. Nice work Long and Mcquade never met a music store that claims to price match but doesnt honor their words. Really bad retail service, dont offer or make a claim such as price matching if you aren’t going to honor it. The employee on the phone was also patronizing when questioned about this decision to not honor their own policy terrible customer service, will order from Steve’s instead
obviously the four men behind the counter had absolutely no idea about customer service. They were so rude. Why? Wont be going there again.
Rude and unhelpful.
5. The Sound Post
Address: 93 Grenville St, Toronto, ON M5S 1B4, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Updated: did decide to buy a cello here in the $40k-$50k range, and it seems that stock in the $10k had improved dramatically compared with a year ago. Alistair and staff helped and recommended me an excellent instrument. Remember to double check your receipts. P.S. Alistair had not only helped me find the ultimate cello for me, but he had given me good advice to me, that in the music sense, is invaluable. Thank you Alistair! May the cello give comfort to this world.
For musical instrument items
Hello, ya The employees worked to the best of their abilities to deliver what I wanted and all is good!
I simply wished that they were operational on Mondays and for more hours generally.
come on yoL! loll Roarr!
I’ve requested the consignment for my son’s violin 2 years ago just before the covid – no response back although I’ve called and emailed the contact – be careful when you do consignment
– Got the response back and I am going to receive the refund. I am updating the review based on the communication with the consignment contact.
If you are new to the violin, you might be tempted to buy one of the low-priced violins
Don’t do it.
My violin refused to be in tune, the angle and placement of the strings was off, the tone of the instrument was squeaky and unappealing, and the tuners always broke the strings
It was impossible to get helpful information from the staff about the instruments on consignment. Talked to several different people over the phone, and could not even get a straightforward price quote for a listed instrument.
Instead, I purchased a beautiful 1756 German viola from a member of the Symphony. Could not be more happy.
Newbies beware! A number of years ago, I brought them a bow for re-hairing. Over a month & many calls later, it was “not yet done”. When I turned up in person, an employee couldn’t find it. As I went to find it myself, he asked about it again, went upstairs with me & with a disturbed expression, handed it over & said “this is where we keep our own bows, & I don’t know why it’s here.” I have since learned that my bow is special. Go to Heinl – they will teach you & they treated me honestly.
6. Capsule Music
Address: 985 Dovercourt Rd, Toronto, ON M6H 2X6, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
This is the mecca in Canada for vintage guitars and amplifiers….great owners and staff…will find what you want if they don’t have it
There’s a reason these folks have been musicians’ go-to source for decades when it comes to selling and repairs for sweet sweet guitars. My Gretsch and Tele have never felt or sounded as good in my entire years of ownership after I brought them in for a set-up and some fixin’. A++++++++++
Cozy shop. A little off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The location is a little tricky to find as it’s through an alley and down a staircase, but It’s a great atmosphere for a well named music shop.
Great selection of gear, but the service was mediocre at best. Didn’t seem to want my business.
I like this place, because I like guitars. If you like guitars, then you will like this place.
If you play I like, then guitar you will. I am Astar and I am a robot. I can put my arm back on – can you? Play safe…
edit: yep, still the same
About a year ago I brought in a Vox Starstream guitar for set up.
I had bought almost new and the action wasn’t terrible, but as a brand new learning student that knew nothing, I brought it to you to be set up for easiest action possible, explained that to the person I spoke to and they assured me I would be well looked after.
A week later I picked up my guitar, from another person, cost me over $90, and when I got home I excitedly tried it out. The action was awful, pretty much unplayable but as a real beginner I thought I must be wrong. Was quite discouraged from learning for quite a while but ended up buying 2 more guitars, one with fantastic easy action already, the other I had set up somewhere else that is good but I understand how it could be better, especially in voicing.
I took out the Vox today and looked at it again – the action is up around 5mm at the 15th fret. This was an awful set up.
So I am guessing that someone started it, didn’t finish.
Have tried to contact them several times, hoping they would rectify the situation, but no response and here we are.
Fix your operating hours on Google. Wasted my time today
Came from out of town, to possibly trade in and purchase another guitar from them, well, they didn’t even ask to see the guitar but were quick to go on reverb and then slash 70% off my trade! I appreciate the transparency but it would of been nice to have given me the time of day, by at least looking at my guitar. The reason for not getting one star is because of the collection of guitars.
7. Junction Guitars
Address: 2776 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6P 1Y3, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Went there to buy a pedal to use as a looping switch on an amp. Good price. I’ve bought two guitars here. Both Yamaha, a classical and a straight acoustic. Great place if you’re in the Junction, Humber Valley or Bloor West Village areas.
I feel that I don’t have the vocabulary to properly explain how absolutely FANTASTIC my guitar plays & sings now, after entrusting it with Phil to properly set up and intonate/adjust it.
Not only did he take the time to explain that work he performed was what I requested, although he also ensured that the nut on my neck was filed correctly for my preferred guage of strings.
I consider myself lucky to have such a great store nearby that’s filled with amazing gear and very fair prices!!!
Thank you again, Phil! A++++
My boyfriend and I recently went in to have his guitar set up and when we picked the instrument up, received zero information on what had actually been done. When asked how everything went, the response was simply “good”. Would have anticipated better customer service and more information on the set up.
Friendly service. The guy know perfectly all about guitars
Nice shop, went to pick up a purchase from Reverb app. Friendly owner, nice selection of guitars. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
THEY DAMAGED MY EQUIPMENT. Had my vintage fender twin serviced there a while back. charged me $500.00 to fix a reverb tank and replace the tubes, which i assumed was normal. Then i got the amp back with a long rip in the cloth material and it was missing one of the rubber feet. Obviously lacking the level of care i expected from a local shop. Wish they offered to repair the damaged they did.
I hate to leave a bad review for a local business, but the neck of my brand new guitar was damaged when taking it here for service. For context I’ve been here twice before to have guitars set up and each time have been happy with the work. I recently got a Fender Strat, and took it in for a setup and to have the fret edges rolled as they were sharp. Phil told me the edges were fine but I insisted as I wasn’t comfortable playing with them.
He called a week later as promised, and I didn’t feel like the edges were rolled at all but he insisted he did the work so I paid and left. When I got home I noticed that the fretboard and neck finish was chipped off in places along both sides of the guitar, and was a bit upset that this wasn’t even mentioned to me when I picked the guitar up. I called back and Phil advised that “it happens” due to the way the fretboard and neck is bonded, and there was nothing that could be done about it. Photo attached of some of the damage, and you can also clearly see the fret edges are not rolled.
I’ll now have to pay more to take the guitar somewhere else to fix the damage caused by taking it here, and to have someone actually roll the fret edges which I already paid to be done here.
I brought my Takamine E Acoustic in to the shop as the B string volume was half as loud as the rest of the strings. Phil told me to bring it in that he believed he had a replacement pick for the guitar. When I arrived I found his shop in disarray and he could not find the pick up that he spoke of but assured me that he could fix this. As the shop had a high review rating I decided to leave the guitar with him. 3 days later he told me to come back that the guitar was fixed. When I tried it out the B and the E string were the same volume half of what the the volume of the other strings (the top 4) he told me this was the best he could do and maybe look at getting a new guitar. I paid him and left in disgust. A few weeks later I took the guitar to 12th Fret. Long story short they found a small piece of metal was missing from underneath the saddle for the B and E They fashioned a small piece of metal and replace it no charge and the guitar now works like new again. Sorry I have to give this shop a bad review.
8. Paul’s Boutique
Address: 69 Nassau St, Toronto, ON M5T 1M6, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Great service. Any guitar I’ve brought in has come back better. Nuff said.
I’ve traded in so much gear there and bought so much gear there over the years, love it. Always cool stuff, staff is friendly and the prices for trade-ins are always a fair deal. I only wish they made Paul’s Boutique stickers that I could put on everything!
Great service and vary freindly
Loads of vintage. If you try something in the front, watch the gain. Poochy no like.
Pretty expensive
Great gear, payment options, consignment options and expert staff
Not a good experience. Asked for a multi power supply to power my pedals, the girl sold me a power supply and didn’t tell me I needed to buy a seperate cable for it to work with multi pedals. When I rang back to ask why she sold it to me, she told me they were sold out of the cables. I then took it in to Ask for my money back as they sold me something I didn’t ask for and they told me I can only get store credit. So I had to to buy stuff I didn’t need. Wont be going back here. Bad experience.
This is a pro shop. This isnt the place for beginner players. I bought an older guitar from here and only a few weeks later it died. I assumed it was a minor electrical issue. I brought it to another shop nearby my house and found out the neck, pickups and all the wiring needed fixing. $230.00 repairs for a $249.00 guitar. Thanks Paul’s Boutique!
Well I don’t think I met Paul but I definitely met a 20 something year old hipster who was the only one working there at the time. The attitude of this kid was terrible. I originally went to Steve’s music and one of the guitar reps directed me to Paul’s when Steve’s didn’t have what I was looking for (nice of Steve’s to do that).
When I walked in I asked the kid about a few items I was looking for. Not once did he even look up at me he just said “nope” “nope” to everything I asked about. When I asked him if he ever gets any of the equipment I wanted in store he said “Dude I don’t know man” as if he were annoyed that I asked. This was a complete waste of time. Paul may be nice (so I hear) but he has terrible choice in staff. I won’t be going back.
9. Mother Of All Guitar Shop
Address: 437 Roncesvalles Ave, Toronto, ON M6R 3B9, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Dragan is awesome! Tuned up my guitar and bass and it was ready in 1 day!
Love this place, The owner Dragon was a great help, and he fixed up my epiphone les paul for a good price. Highly recommend this shop
Got exactly what I wanted (actually better) at a very good price. Service was great and there’s a good choice of guitars and accessories here.
Friendly and helpful service. Tons of variety but very pricy
Here at 2 pm on a Thursday and it’s closed
Small boutique shop.
I bought a cheapo baycrest turntable from the owner of this shop. When we listened to it in his store I inquired about a loud sounding ground hum, and he assured me it was from the amplifier, not the turntable. When I brought it home the hum was still present and I noticed the grounding cable was missing. I went back in to ask him if I could return it or maybe have him install a ground cable (which I still offered to pay for), and he refused my service and told me that “that is just how old record players in that time were made”. This is not true. After arguing about it for a little bit I left after he insinuated that it was my fault for not knowing what I was buying (buyer beware I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Luckily I brought the TT over to a record store one block over (Tonality Records), and they installed the ground wire and fixed the issue ON THE SPOT and completely free of charge.
10. Tundra Music Toronto Guitar Store
Address: 587 Jones Ave, Toronto, ON M4J 3H4, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Nice cozy little store where regulars hobnobb looking for great guitars. Manager Crispin Cotton is very knowledgeable and courteous. He facilitated my on-line Strat purchase, fine tuned the action and experience was a pleasure.
Amazing experience at this store ! I have recommended Tundra to all of my friends into music. Incredible selection, great service and knowledgeable staff.
I was having a difficult time tracking down a particular model of Blackstar amp and had no luck with the big music stores in the city. I decided to try Tundra Music when I saw they had a large selection of Blackstar products and I wasn’t disappointed. Matt, the Toronto store manager, was able to get the amp for me and at a good price, too! And he personally made sure it was delivered to me promptly. Very satisfied with the product and the service.
I order Bass electric Guitar last month online and the product was eventually out of stock…. But shout out to Matthew because when i call the store he was very helpful. He take care of our order and delivered by him… He is very approachable and very nice…. Thank you!
The Toronto location is under new management since last year and has really turned things around. Initially I had a poor online experience but new manager Matt was able to help me resolve my issues. Matt appears passionate about music and about running a successful business.
The staff there are really friendly.
Left my Fender Amp for repair in March 2020 , was waiting 2 months because of Covid 19, first time called in May, nobody ever called me back or replied to my e mails. The employee at the Danforth / Jones Ave. store answered the phone 4 times (out of my 15 calls) and every time he gave me the incorrect info. Finally on July 10, 2020 I went personally to the store to pick up my Amp. Nobody even touched it. The individual at the store just said they didn’t have a chance to check it. The customer service was the worst I’ve ever encountered. Be wary when looking to use their services. Do not make the same mistake as me.
Do not waste your time here they took my credit card information without even having intentions of placing the order after trying calling them like 20 times no answers no one got back to me still had my credit card. God knows what they were doing with it and then had the audacity to be mad when I wanted to cancel an order and they said never to do that again. When they literally never got back to me or picked up my calls
I definitely would not recommend this merchant for online purchases based on my experience. I dealt with a person named Mason. After placing my order online, I contacted them many times (by phone and email) for questions about delivery times etc. They would take my contact info when I called, but never get back to me. They only responded to my email after my many emails asking them what was going on. The delivery took twice as long (40+ days) as they initially said it would. The worst part was… the guitar I received wasn’t even the guitar I ordered!!!! It was a different model. I contacted them about this issue, and they are simply just ignoring my emails now! Unbelievable!
I’m very disappointed with Tundra based on my experience. Very un-professional customer service and dishonest. I would not recommend.
11. Allegro Music
Address: 2043 Avenue Rd, North York, ON M5M 4A7, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
I went in today to buy an electric guitar and was met by Frank—a very professional man, efficient and friendly. Thank you for the help; I’ve started practicing on the instrument and feeling confident.
Has an amazing selection of ukuleles. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Really nice guy, very friendly and helpful, good prices, nice selection, and happily referred me to other competing stores for products he didn’t currently stock even though he could order them himself if I wanted!
Nice local music store. They have some cheap stuff and some overly priced stuff, especially the guitar strings. They have an excellent guitar selection for beginner guitarists but nothing special for intermediate and advanced guitarist looking for PRS’s, Fender’s or Gibson’s etc. The music lessons here are very good and the staff knows their store well.
My daughter enjoys her music lessons here.
Friendly staff, clean nice unique music store
I came to look at the acoustic guitars that they have in stock. It was very dark inside the guitar storage. The owner just let me in and immediately left as if he did not want to speak to me. He even did not care to turn on the lights (saving on Hydro bills, I guess) leaving me wandering among the guitars in a semi-darkness. I had to test a few guitars in this twilight until I asked him to turn the lights on.
I bought two sets of acoustic strings. When I brought them home, it turned out one of them was tampered with – it appeared to have been open. Its back was mended with an invisible tape (very smart!).
I don’t think I am going to attend this store again…
Inaccurate store hours posted on front of the door
very rude, not appreciate your business at all. avoid this store.
12. RMC – Rogers Music Centre
Address: 465 Rogers Rd, York, ON M6M 1A8, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Levelled my Floyd rose bridge in a short amount of time with great customer service.
Always professional,friendly and
I would recommend them to anyone who’s tired of the bigger shops.
Quick, great service. Very helpful and knowledgeable!
Terrible servivd over the phone
They don’t do returns!
Owner is terrible, got a bad feeling just talking to him. Overpriced products that you can get cheaper at other locations. Place is dirty, you have to call him to come in and open the door. Would be good if he spends more time there cleaning the place as all the instruments have dust and looks unkept. Just don’t go.
13. Cask Music
Address: 1054 Queen St E, Toronto, ON M4M 1K5, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
I’ve been shopping at Cask since it opened in 2013. Steve has always kept excellent stock on new and rare used equipment. Toronto’s east end home for sweet music gear. Thanks for always taking care of me Steve!
Purchased: 1993 Boss Hyper Fuzz FZ-2, w/ original box
Great little music store. Knowledgeable friendly staff. Cool neighborhood shop
Excellent store. Purchased a small Peavey KB60 amp for my electric drums. Good pricing and good staff. Has worked well. I would highly recommend Cask.
Nice people, great gear
Was only phoning them the other day they are pretty good have not been to store yet
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Decent selection of instruments and gear. Great looking shop.
I found the owner extremely rude and condescending. I would never go here or recommend him to anyone.
Never open!
Nice guys, but their hours are weird, and unpredictable. They don’t follow what’s posted. Been trying to pick my guitar up for a week, but whenever I go they’re not there. Frustrating.
Nice little store, but they’re NEVER open – appointment only two days a week (doesn’t say that here, just posted on their door), aren’t answering calls for appointments on those days, & when WAS in there (months ago, maybe an old employee who no longer works there, to be fair) looking for something specific, I was repeatedly pushed other products instead of being informed that they don’t have an item with the features I was seeking. Nice store but very frustrating to shop at.
14. Tutti Violini
Address: 1560 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4G 3B8, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Excellent place to buy violin
The owner is amazing and knows music and is an amazing violin player
Jaime is one of the most unique luthiers I have ever met. Can’t recommend highly enough
If you’re looking for a string instrument, Tutti Violini is the place to go. Jamie’s masterful ear and eye will guide you through the journey of finding an instrument that is perfect for you at your current stage of musicianship.
As an adult beginner cellist, Jaime paired me with an excellent cello and bow. We talked through my options and he maximized the quality of sound for my budget. He was exceptionally responsive throughout the process and it was not rushed at all so I had the space to make a decision that was right for me.
If you want someone who will truly care about your experience of being paired with an instrument that will bring you joy and connect to your love of music, I highly recommend going to Tutti Violini and speaking to Jaime.
Went there today at 11:30am. Their website says they open at 11am. Got to the store and it was closed. Called their phone number and got an answering machine. No note on door, nothing. If you own his business, please post accurate store hours!

16. Accordions Canada
Address: 1608 Eglinton Ave W, York, ON M6E 2G8, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Wow is all I can say. I dropped off my Dollape Supermaestro for a tune up and repair and the difference is night and day. These guys are pros and know what they are doing, best in the business for sure . The keys and buttons are much smoother when playing and the difference in the sounds are beautiful. The accordion is now able to play 5x louder at max than it was able to before, it also looks way better and cleaner than it did before. I can’t thank these guys enough, definitely worth the wait and the price and highly suggest if anyone needs a repair to take it here.
Still have to..check them out. Looking forward to the service as I am in Orillia..dah..distance & etc. I need to PLAY..It is in my heart and in SOUL.! What is going on…cannot hear enough of my love of…
Mr. Chris is professional, trusty, knowledgeable/skillful about accordions. He showed my accordion’s damaged parts and diagnosed reeds issues and keys problems like a physician and fixed it. I highly recommend Accordions Canada for buying and repairing accordions!
Good place and knowledgeable
Freandly services knowledgeable people.
Very nice instrumentation
17. Pop Music
Address: 345 Broadview Ave, Toronto, ON M4M 2H1, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Ordered online and it came in very fast, just like mentioned on the site. The vinyl was in great condition and the prices are very good. I’m glad I found this store and I’m going to order more vinyls soon!
Great selection and great help from the staff. Will check and order any records they dont have in stock!
One of my favourite record store, very friendly and nice staff, Look what I found today! So happy with my purchase
Specialises in new vinyl and reissues. They will try to get it if they don’t have it.
Great prices good selection
Nice selection of tshirts and albums
This place is often overpriced. A lot of the Record Store Day titles end up being about $10 more than MSRP.
18. The Twelfth Fret Guitarists’ Pro Shop
Address: 2132 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1J9, Canada , Toronto , Ontario , Canada
Great service as well as an unmatched range of high-end and vintage pieces supported by well informed and helpful staff.
A guitar lover’s paradise. This is a serious place.
Staff is very knowledgeable and the instructor especially Ed is very helpful.
I bought and am taking lessons here, and I am enjoying it. The twelfth fret is well known for its repair and its inventory. It’s inventory is affordable and it’s lessons are fun.
Limited inventory. Very good selection.
The most amazing collection of guitars I have ever seen!
scammed m
Crooks. Greedy.Snobs. This is the absolute truth – At the Fret I bought a Bigsby Vibramate NEW IN THE BOX for my SG. Had the work done there, paid the bill, got my guitar, then two weeks later they are calling me asking for $135 for parts they had to special order. I buy a brand new Bigsby but apparently there’s parts missing from the box and they were demanding that I HAD TO PAY FOR IT!!!! (the thing is $175 new – and actually it’s $135 at L&M) – AND INSULTING ABOUT IT!!!!!!! – just incredible. A number of phone calls over a few weeks telling me that ” you have to be responsible in life and pay your bills” – Whaaaahhhh????? – this is fraud isn’t it? – I told another musician friend about it and they did the EXACT SAME THING TO HIM WITH ALMOST THE EXACT AMOUNT (hmmm…) with the aggressive phone calls and he wasn’t stupid enough to fall for it either – they just wrecked his guitar – he’d had a fret job and new pickups done and they BUTCHERED HIS GIBSON – HE HAD THEM DO THE FRETS OVER AGAIN AND PAID TWICE OVER BECAUSE THEY SCREWED IT UP SO BAD BUT IT WAS STILL WRECKED AND THEY STILL HAVE THE NERVE TO PESTER HIM FOR MONEY – He had to sell it for scrap! Greedy crooks.
Edit #2: I found another Luthier that fixed the problem you caused. Apparently when I paid you guys to “set up” the guitar, you put zero tension on the truss rod and didn’t bother raising the saddle at all. That’s why when I tried to relieve tension on the neck, I could not do so. Not only did the Luthier I found fix your shoddy work, but did it for literally half the cost (so now I know I’ve been ripped off by you guys every time I’ve done business here). I wish I could rate lower than 1 star.
Edit: What? That is not what happened. I literally have my humidifier running at all times. I can’t even believe this response. I tried to contact you before resorting to this. Why don’t you try and contact me to resolve things like I tried to? Instead you just twist my words and try and discredit me… Wow. Take this as a serious warning to anyone reading this. I will actively discourage people from getting repair work done here. So unprofessional!
So, I‘ve been a customer for a couple years, but after several problems I’ve encountered with their repair work, they refused to be accountable for the problems they caused with my guitar. Now I’m left with a guitar that is basically unplayable. The person I talked to on the phone said she didn’t even care if I left a bad review. Careful using their services, folks. I will never be recommending them.
[Richard Ebbs’ review part II]
[review split into two due to exceeding character limit.]
I found the following statement on the 12th Fret website
“we [in the repair section] pride ourselves on our level
of customer service … whether the job is large or small,
our objective is always the same; to ensure complete client
satisfaction with the work performed”. Then I thought about
the cachet of the 12th Fret *name* and how (I believed) one
may be willing to pay a little more for repairs at the 12th
Fret *because* one has an expectation of good customer
service from them.
When I picked the guitar up I again asked the blunt question
if he was willing to accept responsibility for the broken
machine head. His response was “absolutely not”.
On the way out of the 12th Fret I enquired after the manager.
After a brief explanation I was informed that I could talk
with the manager, but that the repair section was an entirely
separate business, “totally independent” of the shop.
“There’s such a thing as collective responsibility” I said.
I then decided *not* to talk to the manager of the shop.
Fixing the problem involved quite a bit of legwork: I visited
3 different other GTA music shops, only to learn no-one I
talked to had a similar ‘old’ machine head in a box somewhere.
It seemed I would have to pay $90 to $110 for a set of six
reasonably good machine heads just to replace the one, but,
then I was very (very) lucky: I was able to track down a
single new Grover machine head that looked similar (most
retailers don’t stock singles) at Long and McQuade in Brampton,
for a little over $20.

Amazing staff. Very helpful and willing to help at any guitar issue or question you may have. There are so many beautiful vintage guitars at decent prices.
These guys have been excellent to me since moving into the neighborhood last summer. They are attentive and knowledgeable and happen to have a unique selection of custom and vintage gear as well!
AWESOME
They did a really good job on my Ampeg Jet, They guessed the year to about early 60’s, But the original tubes got traded for something more generic, and I didn’t get them back. Win some loose some?
Got two amps repaired by their outside amp tech. He gave me a great deal on 10 new JJ tubes in addition to cleaning and tuning the amp up. They sound great now!
Good shop if you’re looking for rare amps and guitars, service is friendly. Lots really good amps and great prices.
Came during store hours and it was closed. A sign was posted saying someone would be back at 1:30pm, it was 2:45pm and it was still closed. It was also Tuesday which is not one of the days they close at 3pm in the summer (Wednesday and Friday). Can’t speak on behalf of the work they do but better service is needed.
Do not get your guitar worked on here.
Guitar shop? What shop? The signage is non-existent. Good luck finding it. If you ever find the tiny shop, their selection of acoustic guitars is amusingly sparse – inventory emphasis is definitely oriented towards electric guitars. Even then, the shop is a 12’x14’ room, so, the selection variety of guitars, accessories, and amplifiers is extremely limited. I didn’t use any of their services. The sole person working in the shop was polite, but, had limited time to chat with me because he was the only person working at the time. I don’t recommend this shop unless you call them first to check if they have what you’re seeking – even then, maybe the one employee may be too busy to answer the phone or already speaking with another in-store sales prospect.

Very professional very kind
Behrad is amazing person which he knows what he’s doing
Do you guys accept refurnished products?
I would highly recommend Behrad’s Guitar set up class to anyone who wishes to learn this process professionally. He is personable, respectful and very precise in his work. I will be pursuing Behrad’s Guitar building course in the near future; his work is without prejudice, remarkable and after noodling around with one of his hand built guitars I would be hard pressed to find such quality on the regular market. Thanks again Behrad.
