Not only do they have instruments and music lessons they serve a delicious lunch with excellent service. I also love the fantastic live music performances they provide in the evening on a regular basis.
A great vibe in here, cool place to see shows and have some soup. 100% had an excellent time
The sweet Chili was fantastic
Friendly owner, good selection of new and vintage amps, and some nice acoustics! Easily the best marquee in town too

A pleasant man to deal with. Down home type I brought 2 guitars for him to bring up to par. Such a nice man , good service. I even brought him a loaf of bread as a thank you
Chuck saved my Taylor guitar from major smoke damage from a house fire. He took the time to air out the guitar. Clean and brought it back to the beautiful guitar it originally was. To this day to me this guitar has just got a cool factor. It survived a house fire! Cuz of Chuck’s care and attention to detail!
3. Myhre’s Music
Address: 8735 118 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5B 0T2, Canada , Mihalţ , Alberta , Canada
Myhre’s Music was honest & fair when recommending a guitar for me. After a few visits I bought an outstanding Martin D-28. A couple of years later I bought a very nice Collings mandolin. Myhre’s Music’s ‘helpful staff were knowledgeable & very patient & answered all of my many questions. Amazingly, I have never felt any pressure at all to buy when visiting their store & have always been treated in a friendly & respectful manner. They truly just wanted me to feel 100% satisfied & happy with whatever guitar and then mandolin I might choose. When I finally did find the guitar and then mandolin of my dreams, they insisted on putting new strings on it & making sure it was properly set-up for me & my playing style. They gave me a fair price for my trade-ins. Owned by the same family (Father & Son) for over 50 years I trust & respect their advice.
Myhre’s Music does business the old fashioned way – with honesty & integrity.
Fantastic, knowledgeable staff and willingness to help and approach customer needs with creativity and confidence. Been coming here since 2011 and I have to say, it’s possibly my favourite music store in Edmonton!
Great store! Hi to low end instruments. Knowledgeable staff!
Nolans drugs always treat you nice and answers any questions and they always do it with a smile
Friendly staff, very knowledgeable and helpful.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff
Put a guitar on hold here assuring them I was going to buy it in a week, even offered to put money down but they said no need, they would call if anyone else was interested in it. When I came back it was sold and I received no phone call. Not a very good first experience.
Well I could not get in under my own account so my wives name is up.
I have been going to this store for about 10 years and have recommended it many times for the reason others have stated.
So the one star comes from my past two trips to the store. About 6 months ago i was into Edmonton from 3+ hours north. I was shopping for a older guitar so naturally I went there since I have purchased from them before. There was different staff and during this experience I was left with wanting to go elsewhere to find an instrument.
Fast forward to the 10th and I planned another trip to the store. Yet again I left again no impressed. I brought two guitars, one of which was purchased there in 2017. One was newer and the price given left me wanting a second opinion. The second was about 20 percent higher on the trade value. That left a bad taste . Secondly was a much higher price Acoustic from the early 70s. Even in the “poor” condition I was informed it was in, it was still appraised at over five thousand and was informed with a little work it would be worth much more. I was in the market or another fine instrument so I played some there and went back to the hotel and thought about it. SO going back with the information and being told I should expect 80 percent of the appraisal on trade in I went back. After deciding what I liked he reran the numbers and now the number was down below sixty percent of the appraised value. Surprised I asked why the difference? I was Informed they need to make money! Slightly annoyed I packed up my guitar, voiced my opinion to the young salesman, said have a good day to the older gentleman that I purchased my other guitar from and left.
I doubt I will ever return as during my search I have discovered numerous smaller music shops in the area.
As the saying goes: Trust is hard to gain and easy to loose. Just my story.
My response to below.
Some of what you said is accurate. I was informed in the future that if I had work done, (700 to 1000), that the guitar would require a neck reset and bridge done. When shown how to check with a piece of paper, the paper did not go under the bridge. The neck is the same as when I bought it at your store in 2017. At that time there was zero mention of the neck or guitar for that manner needing work. Secondly I was given a trade in value of 3200 and some. It was under 3400, cannot remember exactly. Quick math was over a grand. Along with your other quotes on the second guitar and its value, I was left feeling like I was being taken advantage of.
Even with this experience I would still recommend others to go Myher’s music. As stated above. However I will also names of other small shops which I did not before.
Have been familiar Myhres Music since The 60s nothing but good things to say about this family business and their knowledge of the instrument they sell will always support them

Went in to the store with a minor guitar issue to get some advice on. Staff went above and beyond to help with the issue. I could not have been more impressed with their approach to customer service. That’s the sort of thing that keeps people coming back. Thanks!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This is the best music program in the city. I highly recommend Martha and all the staff. They explain everything to the kids in terms they understand and help inspire a love of music and learning. Thank you so much!
Pretty darn good. please tune up the guitars
Good service, good people. Decent selection for its size. Typically more expensive. 3 stars is not a bad rating. I would shop there again
Great atmosphere, decent selection at competitive prices. Also, their toilet paper is incredibly soft. Wouldn’t think twice about pooping here again.
WARNING! Not Reliable For Rentals!
I make my living entertaining so I booked a headset mic for Canada day 10 days before I needed it, apparently they didn’t keep my reservation and didn’t have one for me the day I came to pick it up. I’d give zero stars if I could. I’m going to tell all of my friends in the entertainment industry to stay away from this place for reliable service and use Long and Mcquade instead, luckily they had some equipment I could still rent. This place is not reliable for rentals!
Went in to look for some fret labels. No customer service. Looked through entire store, wasn’t asked for help once. When I went to leave, THEN the cashier looked up and said “Have a great day…”. I will. At a different music store.
tried calling a week ago regarding my orders, the guy who answered the phone was a bit rude. 2star customer sevice
5. Mountain Music Store

Dave is fantastic to deal with! The guy to see for all your music needs!
not bad for a small music store…i bought a bass and the bridge broke (kinda my fault) and they gave me a replacement bass on warranty..total commitment to the customer…i shop there when i am in town.they have any strings or accessorys i may need..and have always been happy as a customer.very different than our local music store (edson) worth the extra drive..
As an explorer, here’s my spin… The folks here know their music. Great selection of instruments and parts for the music enthusiasts.
Went to purchase an instrument. The door was locked even though the sign said open. I was told at the door they were closed, and didn’t sell instruments.. lost a sale forsure.
6. Acoustic Music Shop
Address: 9934 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 1Y9, Canada , Mihalţ , Alberta , Canada
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I get all my gear here. Prices are very reasonable and their service techs are top notch! They have acoustic and electric guitars, drums and all accessories. Drum and guitar lessons on site!
Great shop. Wide selection of guitars and other gear.
Recently purchased a Eastman acoustic. The service and communication from start to finish was great. Have no problem in recommending the Acoustic Music Shop. Thanks to all the team from AMS. .
Cool shop with a nice selection of both new and unique vintage instruments. A real eye opener was the huge selection of hardware (bridges, tuning keys, etc) and electronic parts (pots, caps, jacks, switches, etc).
I walked out with a cool old Matsumoku Raven SG clone for a friend that’s going to be a restification project.
We go there for our daughter music lesson. Everyone has been really nice to deal with
A good guitar store. also has lessons in music.
Dismissive, abrupt, and not very helpful. They wouldn’t fix my instrument because they deemed it “beyond repair”. I took to somewhere else and my instrument is running better than ever.
Purchased an item from this shop on Reverb. Item was not what I needed (my own fault) and tried to initiate a return as per the policy listed on their Reverb page. No one ever responded to my message so now I am stuck with it. Be wary of purchasing from this shop especially if you are ordering online.
Very rude on the phone owner, and a filthy parking area, are not encouraging to use this business.

got a couple guitars here over the years, good guys working there.
Great staff! Friendly environment! My favourite shop in Calgary! Always willing to help and offer great advice! Thanks MCC
Good place for strings and getting last minute items. Decent selection at fair prices. Staff is friendly and accomodating.
I’ve purchased two guitars here over the last couple of years, and overall I’m happy with the people, service, a products I’ve gotten. 100% would recommend giving them a visit.
The only issue I have is the prices they show for products on their website. They will show a “Retail price” and then a lower “MCC Price”, which gives the impression they’ve got a sale or some sort of price advantage. But looking at other websites for the same products, the lower “MCC Price” is identical to the other stores. I feel that’s disingenuous and misleading.
Took my PRS in for fret job. Rob the Technician there at MCC did an incredible job bringing my guitar back to life. Thanks Rob!!
We were conpletely ignored and were not allowed to play any guitar because were younger then everbody else
Consigned a guitar there and got it back scratched and chipped. I also find the staff there generally don’t give a dam. Want to experience night and day product and customer service?? Go see the great people down MacLeod TR, north a few kilometres ….
I have not been a student here for over 2 years. They had some form of error and charged my card $120. I know have to wait 15 days for a new card to be mailed, due to the incorrect charges. Thanks for the waste of time

Great staff very easy to deal with!! always have what I need highly recommend
Happiness. This place is happiness!
Hey guys just wondering how much acoustic guitar repair costs? I toke out some negative energy on my guitar and I miss playing it. Just looking for a repair estimate is all. Thanks Peace.
Prices are high. Watch their flyer for deals. Selection is ok. Service had always been good. The thing I don’t like about the company is that they buy their competitors and then close the store. Mother’s Music gone. Axe Music gone. Giovanni’s next.
The new branch is huge!!! The usual L&M fare, their inventory of used gear is somewhat lacking at the moment but I imagine it’ll increase over time.
Thank you Ryan.Problem has been rectified.
The guitar is nice and reasonable but had a bad experience. I told them i had never played a guitar before therefore had some questions but representative said they cannot help me which makes sense. I had booked class on the same day and was given right handed guitar instead of left as i had no clue there is a difference nor did they ask about it but not their fault. however i lost money for lesson as couldn’t use it in the session. I rushed to shop immediately after the class to get it exchanged but arrived just 5-10 minutes before closing and requested them to change it as i have another class paid and booked but they denied to do it saying its too late. I believe knowing that i had never played a guitar before, staff could have been more helpful.
Worst branch at Highlands, no one’s approaching you, even to say Hi or how can I help you? Poor customer service. Instead buying something, might as well go to other music stores.
Never been in the store so my review isn’t based on the in-store experience. It is however based on the over the phone experience. I called several times to inquire about any “Rode” products, every time I kept a calm demeanour and tried to be patient. However after several calls the staff was more keen on putting me on hold than actually answering my questions. Who knows maybe they were busy in the store, whatever the reason may be the fact of the matter is they never got back to me and never told me they were busy and therefor things might take a little longer than expected. By the way I want to make it clear, I never got the help I was looking for. They would just put me on hold and never return my calls. AWFUL AWFUL experience, this is coming from a guy who works retail and I have to deal with customers over the phone and in person so I can definitely understand, but this was something totally new, just plain ignorance and awful service. DO NOT CALL THEIR EDMONTON LOCATION BECAUSE THEY HAVE TERRIBLE SERVICE OVER THE PHONE
9. Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

I have rented audio equipment here a few times. The last couple I have been helped by Sean who makes things easy everytime. Everyone here is personable, friendly, and the customer service is always great.
The sale staff in Piano department was helpful and really know his product
Beautiful store, helpful staff.
Very friendly and helpful. Tuned my instrument for free. I didn’t even buy it from them. Thank you
Customer service could use some work for sure.
Yesterday I went in with a friend to purchase my very first acoustic guitar. I was pleasantly surprised with the store and the layout. The staff were all excellent. After looking at more than a few guitars I chose to purchase the EPI J45EC Studio Natural AJ220SCE NANH acoustic guitar. Beautiful model and sound, looking forward to learning how to play.
I do highly recommend going to the store, it was an excellent experience and I will be back.
after getting repaired my guitar i tought it would be good but a month later it’s getting worst. the brand new strings are worthless now 🙁
Quite disappointed with my purchasing experience here recently. Purchased a $1200 guitar approximately one month ago. When buying, I asked if they could give me a deal on a gig bag, as the guitar didn’t come with one and I needed to take it home. I figured I was spending over $1200 on the instrument, 20-30% off on a $50 bag wasn’t the end of the world. No such luck, and fair enough, no-one is entitled to a discount. They offered me a set of strings instead, but when it was only for the cheapest strings available I said no, as any guitar player would understand.
About a week later I took it in for the complimentary setup, and specifically requested low action (which was recorded on my receipt.) When I picked it up a few days later, the action was unplayably high, and they charged me $6 for the new strings. I guess I misunderstood the whole “complementary” thing.
I have spend thousands of dollars here on multiple guitars, pedals, strings, and other equipment. I will not be returning after this.
If you know your way around guitars and instruments, you should be fine, but don’t expect any help or even a “hello” from the staff here. Three separate occasions I went into this location looking to spend cash on a new Bass guitar. The second time, not only did no one acknowledge my girlfriend and I, but when I asked if they had a specific model (I couldn’t see it on the wall), the fellow standing behind the computer in the bass guitar are acted fairly indignantly that I pulled him away from whatever he was looking at. The third time I asked for assistance fetching a bass off the top rack – I’m a short guy, and I have terrible luck dropping expensive things I don’t own – you’d think I had asked to borrow $1000 or something. After begrudgingly finding a stool, he said, “There, now you can get them yourself.” That was the last time I shopped with L&M, and last time I ever will.
