Very knowledgeable and friendly. Gives great advice and affordable service
I have gone to Shifflett Guitars for many years for violin, guitar and ukelele purchases and repairs. It’s always a pleasure to deal with this skilled, kind, funny man!!!
Chuck is awesome!!
3. Innovations Music
Address: 580 St Albert Trail #30, St. Albert, AB T8N 6M9, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
If you live in St. Albert, this is your store. It’s a great place with professional music lessons offered upstairs (Visionary College), it has also been around for a long time. Staff are friendly, owner is really chill, and they have been repairing my gear for years. I’ll say that the prices on amps and guitars are a a little up there, but still cheaper than a lot of places nearby. Still, I think its worth it.
Stan is always wonderful to talk to and has a very deep knowledge of the music industry.
Store is full of merchandise. You want it, they probably have it.
Super helpful for us and we got exactly what we wanted
Great selection and friendly staff, wish the selection of guitar parts was as extensive as it was a few years ago…
Yikes! I’ve had horrible service two times in a row now. I’ve never been spoken to so rudely for simply trying to solve an issue.
I purchased a Fender Squier Classic Vibe Starcaster Guitar from them(Rob) and they promised to level the frets & assured me it wouldn’t have any sharp fret ends and be set it up.None of that work was done and they wouldn’t respond to my email whatsoever after I received the instrument. It was the 1st & last time I’ll buy from them!
I wish I could leave less than one star. Left a flute to be cleaned and three weeks later I spoke to three different people before I had to show up at the store in person and retrieve the flute they hadn’t even sent away yet. They had written my phone number down wrong- and they were confused as to how to refund my depost. I haven’t had such bad service that wasn’t on a drive through window. I’ll never go back.
4. Long & McQuade Musical Instruments
Address: 10 Royal Vista Dr NW, Calgary, AB T3R 0K4, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
This review is long long overdue… this franchise, especially this location is all that you can dream of AND more from such a business/community. You feel it the moment you walk in.
They have almost everything you can imagine at best rates and oh man… their staff are unbelievable. Extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and personable. The rental department and Tyler are some of my favourite people who consistently display outstanding friendship in every interaction.
I’ve bought a lot from Tyler & the branch manager, and will continue to do so because they both instil that trust & warmth everyone yearns for.
THANK YOU ALL! ❤️
Really good store!!!!
Bought a very nice guitar here, Tracy the sales representative went above and beyond for the inspection, packaging and delivery of this guitar. Very happy with the service and overall experience, if you want to buy an investment guitar this is the place. Thanks again everyone at Royal Vista Long & McQuade!
Good selection of instruments. Staff was helpful.
Very friendly staff and willing to help.
Friendly staff.
Dealt with a really difficult man named Ross who was rude and very unprofessional. He got upset that I asked to rent a fog machine, after I asked for speakers. Saying they take time to warm up. I apologize and he doesn’t say anything to me and proceeds to help other customers. At this point he has my account info which included my credit card..so I start to load up one speaker. This man chased me out the store, as if I was stealing!! How embarrassing!!!! I laugh and bring the base bin back inside. Let’s take more time and make more work? Okay Ross! Then he helped 2 others while I could hear this machine was ready to be tested. I ask him if I can get my show on the road because he was about to walk away from the counter after his line was cleared…like really? Ok so now he finally lets me pay, so I can now load my vehicle, I hope he doesn’t chase me. But wait even better… he follows me out and asks how me and my daughter will get it in the car. Doesn’t offer to help us, just came to watch us. Why did he come outside? Idk but I’ll never go back there!!
They sold me a used microphone stand at regular price – the box was taped up on both ends so I should have known better to bring it up. After opening the box, the rubber feet of the stand had dirt on it, indicating the product was previously used. I called the store to raise the issue. No apologies for passing off used product as new. Just an instruction to return the item for an exchange for a new one.
More troubling is the condescension I regularly receive, despite being a frequent customer who has purchased more elaborate gear than what I was shopping for today. I asked for a “standard microphone stand with a boom”. Couldn’t be more clear. The sales rep didn’t think I knew what I was asking for and proceeded to point to product on display, saying, “do you mean something like this?”
To customers: if you can order products online from the manufacturer’s websites or if you can shop somewhere else, do it. It’s not worth the drive, the customer experience, nor the headache.
I emailed in to see if they would trade my guitar and someone there told me that they would take it that I should just come in and they will tell me what it’s worth so I can get a new one. To my surprise when I got there the guy said they weren’t taking anymore traded guitars so I drove almost across the city just to go home. Bit of a waste of gas.
5. St John’s Music
Address: 700 58 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2E2, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
Excellent music store. Lots of selection and the staff are available to answer any questions and to help you out.
The staff here always gives as much help as they can to help me.
Bought my son’s clarinet here. Staff are knowledgeable. Let you take your time to try the various instruments.
Great place for musical instruments. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. My only knock is that there is no ramp for wheelchairs or for someone who has mobility challenges.
Accessories are overpriced and you can get them at Longandmcquade or Amazon for cheaper. But if you are to buy an instrument, I would reccomend St. John’s.
Super friendly, decent prices, and open “early”
NOT A WELCOMING PLACE! Because it’s so dead in there, the gatekeeper woman, a white skinhead lady, has all the time in the world to stare at you inside the store, make you feel like you’re stealing something! Not all musicians are poor Karen! No wonder you downsized, and closed up branches, not a good business culture. Shut down for the love of music!
the sales is one of the worst salesman I ever see
Their new location is very out of the way, they have a lackluster instrument selection and the markups are insane!
6. Day’s Music
Address: 4815 50 Ave Unit 107, Red Deer, AB T4N 4A5, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
Excellent selection and prices. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful and patient.
Excellent people and extremely knowledgeable. Very helpful and welcoming.
fast shipping!
Store is nice, nice layout, friendly no pressure staff. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of the small selection of bass guitars and bass gear.
The staff is always willing to help you. Also, have very knowledgeable music instructors very friendly environment.
Nice store. 53rd st store has more selection, not sure about prices.
I bought an Black star Amp from MCC in Red Deer Alberta
And almost immediately it started to change programs by itself
The owner said if I dropped the amp off it would be repaired within 2-3 days
It’s been 8 days and I still am waiting
He told me his tech guy usually takes about 3 days give or take to bring back a repair
Also he sold me the wrong Amp to begin with although it is a good sounding one it’s not the one I had tried out although it looks identical
It took so long for his shipments to arrive I just kept the one they had sold me which in the first week started acting up
I need my amp seriously for recording so in my mind I am not pleased and quite disappointed in a bad way
I may not shop there again not 100% sure though
Get my amp back to me asap and if you say something about service or product make sure you follow through
No idea .I have yet to get my guitar back from adjustments to be done .
7. Music Centre Canada
Address: 10206 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0P8, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
Great staff and wonderful Ownership. Love the Guild F2512E 12-String I picked up in there today ! Great sound. The Jumbo sound is the way a 12-sting should sound. I will be back !
The best music Store in the city!! Great selection, professional staff, they have all kinds of instruments, lessons and the like. I was really impressed!
Awesome store. The owner personally helped me and was amazing to deal with. Highly recommend.
Took my PRS in for fret job. Rob the Technician there at MCC did an incredible job bringing my guitar back to life. Thanks Rob!!
I’ve purchased two guitars here over the last couple of years, and overall I’m happy with the people, service, a products I’ve gotten. 100% would recommend giving them a visit.
The only issue I have is the prices they show for products on their website. They will show a “Retail price” and then a lower “MCC Price”, which gives the impression they’ve got a sale or some sort of price advantage. But looking at other websites for the same products, the lower “MCC Price” is identical to the other stores. I feel that’s disingenuous and misleading.
Good place for strings and getting last minute items. Decent selection at fair prices. Staff is friendly and accomodating.
We were conpletely ignored and were not allowed to play any guitar because were younger then everbody else
I have not been a student here for over 2 years. They had some form of error and charged my card $120. I know have to wait 15 days for a new card to be mailed, due to the incorrect charges. Thanks for the waste of time
Wanted to buy pack of strings.. no one would help me. Left feeling ignored. Since MCC does not value sales I have no interest of entering this business ever again. I have no issues giving my business to your competition.
8. Long & McQuade Musical Instruments
Address: 10832 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2B3, Canada , Älta , Alberta , Canada
Always the most helpful people. I would never go anywhere else for my music needs.
The staff are great, and they have almost anything that you would ask for when it comes to making music. Prices are competitive as well. I wouldn’t shop anywhere else.
Not very friendly or knowledgeable.
Slways helpful staff and good product selection
So e locations lack customer service and it’s made it 4 stars because they have a great assortment of product.
Rude guy at the til told me “quite frankly he doesn’t want to touch” my sons guitar to fix the 1 string because “he doesn’t know where its been”. I found pretty offensive regardless of the fact that he gave us a free string. He basically told me to figure it out myself. Will not return. We get treated better on the south side anyway.
They treated my family like they were a disease. They felt like trash leaving thise store today. I went there before and the staff was friendly so oviously this person who was on should be analyzed by management on how to treat staff. I’m so disgusted by this!
Staff member wearing one of those weird face mask things didn’t seem very interested in talking pro audio after I asked him how I could get a good loud metronome sound. He seemed like he could care less about selling me anything at all after I expressed an interest in purchasing some high powered monitors/speakers. Maybe he was judging my appearance because it may appear to others that I don’t have any money. Anyways I went and bought a bass amp at a different music store on Whyte and plugged my metronome in to that. Wow! this is a great setup for a loud metronome that drummers require. Not a very good experience at this L&M, it felt like the staff member in question couldn’t wait to end our whole conversation.
